Everyone in our house can’t stop talking about our new favorite Disney character — Forky! So, I thought it fitting that we create Forky Cupcakes in honor of our favorite trash toy. With my easy vanilla cupcake recipe, a can of white frosting and some yummy candies, you can decorate your own Forky cupcakes for a Toy Story party or just an afternoon treat.
If you haven’t seen Toy Story 4 yet, what are you waiting for? Once you see it, you will see why everyone loves the movie and Forky! My kids are already asking when they can see it again.
Forky cupcakes make the perfect addition to a Toy Story birthday party. For more party deas, check out my daughter’s Toy Story Birthday Party.
Forky Cupcakes
Forky cupcakes are fun to make with kids. They love using yummy candies to make the cupcake look like Forky. Little kids will need help forming the hands and mouth, but assembly is a perfect task for kids of all ages.
My kids love to bake vanilla cupcakes “from scratch.” My easy vanilla cupcakes are perfect for this. If you aren’t in the mood to make them from scratch, boxed cupcakes work too. But I promise these are just as easy and quite delicious.

Vanilla Cupcake Ingredients:
Yields 12 cupcakes
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs, at room temperature
- 2/3 cup sugar
- 12 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup milk
Vanilla Cupcake Instructions:
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Line one 12-cup standard muffin tin with white cupcake liners.
Whisk the flour, baking powder and salt together in a medium bowl. Set aside.
In another bowl, beat the eggs and sugar with an electric mixer until light and foamy, about 2 minutes.
While beating, slowly pour in melted butter and vanilla.
While mixing slowly, add half of the flour mixture. Then add the milk, followed by the remaining flour mixture. Do not to overmix the batter.
Divide the batter evenly in the muffin tin. Bake 18 to 20 minutes. Allow cupcakes to cool completely before decorating.
While we made our cupcakes from scratch, we used Pillsbury frosting for our Forky cupcakes. Mostly because of my kids’ attention span. They want to bake and decorate. If you want to make your own frosting, my white buttercream frosting would work well for these.
Forky Topping Ingredients:
- White frosting
- Cherry Peel ‘N Pull Twizzlers
- Blue Twizzler Straws
- Large and small candy eyes
- White cupcake wrappers
- Popsicle Sticks
- Glue Dots (or double-sided tape)
Forky Cupcake Decorating Instructions:
Once cooled, place each cupcake in an additional white cupcake liner. Break a wooden popsicle stick in half to form Forky’s feet. (I saved sticks from my kids’ popsicles and ran them through the dishwasher, so I was able to upcycle them for Forky.) Use Glue Dots to attach the “feet” to the bottom of the outer cupcake wrapper.
Note, I was unable to find rainbow stickers for Forky’s foot. But it would be cute if you can find them or draw one with markers.
Frost each Forky cupcake with white frosting. I use this frosting bag and tips. Swirl icing onto each cupcake coming to a point, and then add additional points on either side. Creating three peaks at the top of the cupcakes.
To create Forky’s arms, peel the Pull ‘n Peel Twizzlers into strips. Cut each strip into quarters. Cut one quarter into thirds, these will become the fingers. The arms are made from the quarter pieces.
Attach two “finger” strips to an “arm” piece to create a three-fingered hand. To attach, use the side of a butter knife to press the pieces together. Stick the arms between the cupcake liners.
Use the same red Pull ‘N Peel Twizzlers to create eyebrows, approximately 1.25 inches in length.
To create the mouth, flatten a blue Twizzler Straw and slice in half lengthwise. Use your fingers to squish, pull and roll the Twizzler into a thin roll. Loop a piece into a circle and use your fingers to squish ends together to form the mouth.
Finally, place eyebrows, two different size eyes and the mouth on the frosted cupcake.
If making Forky cupcakes with kids, allow them to use any color Twizzlers to create Forky’s face and arms. That’s the best thing about Forky crafts, he was made by a kid so every kid can make their own.
