First Day Of School Sign & Photo Ideas ~ Free Printable

OMG school starts in one week. I have said it over and over, and I’ll say it again — I can’t believe my baby is starting Kindergarten!!! In an effort to psych myself up for the big day, I made some First Day of School signs to share. And I thought I would share my plans for documenting this momentous occasion.

Of course, the first day of school is all about the perfect outfit and the perfect picture. Once you have the perfect outfit picked out (still working on that), make that picture pop with a First Day of School sign. Download your First Day of School signs here or by clicking on the picture below.

To keep preserve some of those precious memories, take a picture with plenty of space to the side. Then use PicMonkey or a photo editing software to add text describing your student’s favorite things — what makes your student awesome, right now.

This is the picture I created of K last year, one year later most of these things are still true. But I wonder how quickly that will change when she starts Kindergarten.

  1. As a pre-K teacher I made a beautiful picture frame out of cardboard, painted and glued wood letters to it that read “1st day of school”. the “1st” is glued to a star held by Velcro in the corner of the frame, that way I can change it for “100th” and “last” day of school; I hope they love it as much as I do. cant wait to meet them all 🙂

  2. I just wanted to say a HUGE thank you for making these printables! We live in California and they have recently started transitional kindergarten (or TK) for the kids born in the fall who are not 5 by the time school starts. It is not preschool and not pre-k…those are entirely different out here. I wanted to use one of the many first day of school printables I’ve seen around the internet, but they all said First Day of Preschool, Pre-K, or Kindergarten. I have been searching for one that said TK and found your website. I can use your printable that says “First Day of School” and it’ll be perfect. So THANK YOU! I also pinned it for future use 🙂

  5. Hello! I really like your blog and your first and last day of school printable a are awesome! I downloaded the first day of school set, but the last day set won’t open in drop box. It says file type not supported. Could you look into it or possibly email them to me? I have been showering the Internet for signs for my baby’s first day of kindergarten and yours were my fav! Thanks!!

    • Hi Jennifer – My guess is that you have an older computer and don’t have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed — that is the only reason your computer wouldn’t recognize the file type because it is a PDF.

You can download Adobe Acrobat Reader for free directly from Adobe – https://get.adobe.com/reader. Once you download that your computer should be able to read the file just fine.
