Valentine's Day Teacher Gift Tag

This project was inspired by the materials received for my February Waverly Inspirations. The perfect colors for Valentine’s Day, right?!

Materials

  • Waverly Inspirations Acrylic Paint (white and fuchsia)
  • Waverly Inspirations Fabric (heart fabric)
  • Waverly Inspirations Heart Ribbon
  • Mason Jars (I recommend these smooth side jars)*
  • Self-adhesive vinyl or large heart sticker
  • Pinking shears
  • Baker’s Twine
  • Printable gift tag (download below)
  • Double-sided craft tape
  • Valentine’s Day candy

You can find Waverly Inspirations products and all of the materials needed for this project at Walmart. Look for Waverly Inspirations for all of your crafting needs.

*When shopping for Mason Jars, make sure you purchase jars that have a smooth side – like the ones recommended above. The project won’t look nearly as sharp if there are traditional mason jar details on your jars.

Directions

The first step is to make a mask using either vinyl or large stickers. I used my Silhouette to cut vinyl hearts. You can either use the heart or the outline of the heart to create your mask depending on if you want to paint a heart or paint the jar leaving a clear heart. I did some of each.

After creating your mask, paint your jars and the jar ring. It is not necessary to pain the jar lid, but you can if you like. You will need two good coats of paint to cover the jar. Don’t use too much paint or you will end up with drips.

While the paint is drying, use your pinking shears to cut circles out of the fabric approximately 6 inches in diameter. These cloth circles will become the fabric jar covers.

When paint is completely dry, peel off the vinyl.

Fill the jars with your choice of Valentine’s Day candy, and assemble the jars. Use double-sided tape to attach the Waverly Inspirations ribbon around the lid of the jar, and then use baker’s twine to tie the gift tag to the ribbon.

Your little ones will love presenting this sweet treat to their teachers for Valentine’s Day.
