Valentine’s Day Candy Cane Lollipop And Printable Tag

This year I decided to do something more creative with our leftover candy canes (more creative than eating them all myself that is). I decided to repurpose the leftover Christmas treats to create a special Valentine’s Day Candy Cane Lollipop.

Candy Cane Lollipop Valentine
Not only did the turn out adorable, but hello – peppermint chocolate! What could be yummier?!

And if you have leftover candy canes like me (every year), they are crazy easy to make!

The secret to these turning out perfectly is a non-stick surface – either non-stick foil or a Silpat Baking Mat. (I got a Silpat for Christmas and I love it!) If you don’t use a non-stick surface, you might break your candy canes trying to get them up.

Ingredients

Directions

Preheat the oven to 300 degrees.

Lay out your candy canes in the shape of hearts around the lollipop sticks. Bake in the oven for 3 minutes — just enough to make them soft and pliable.

Carefully pinch the ends of the lollipop around the stick. Be careful, the candy will be hot. I found using the back of my nail worked best.

How to Make Candy Cane Lollipops
Melt chocolate and/or chocolate melts according to package directions. (I used candy melts for the white and good dark chocolate for the dark.)

Spoon melted candy into the center of each lollipop and quickly add the sprinkles.

Allow lollipops to cool.

Once cool, I used Wilton treat bags tied with baker’s twine to wrap each lollipop and secure with a printable tag.

Printable Valentine’s Day Tag

Because what’s a Valentine treat without a little tag, I made printable tags that say, “Valentine, we were “mint” to be friends.” I made the PDF editable, so you can type a name in the blank. (Which, of course, I forgot to do for pictures. Sigh.)

Download the “Valentine, we were “mint” to be friends” tag.

Next year, I think I might make a version of this for Christmas too.
