Not long after Sissy turned one she discovered her sister’s Ariel necklace. It is a string of faux pearls with a purple seashell in the middle with a button that when pushed played Ariel’s song. You know the one she sings when Ursula steals her voice, Ahaha ahaha ahaha ahaha ahha… (Don’t make me sing it for you.)

Not long after that her big sister and I decided that we should throw a Little Mermaid party for her second birthday in October — days after the re-release of The Little Mermaid on Blu-Ray and in 3D. It was perfect.

So for my little mermaid, I couldn’t have been more excited when our 3D copy of The Little Mermaid arrived in the mail.

We own a copy of The Little Mermaid on DVD from the last time this classic was released from the vault, and my girls have worn the copy out. And every time we watch it my husband, the techy, rolls his eyes at the poor quality. Now we can watch the movie free of eye-rolling.

The Little Mermaid has been made even more magical for the Blu-Ray release with the spectacular addition of 3D, and it is now available on Blu-Ray/DVD combo and on 3D Blu-Ray combo.

Plus don’t miss Carly Rae Jepsen performing “Part Of Your World.” I take Disney remakes very seriously, and I was concerned about a remake of one of the best Disney songs of all time. But Carly Rae did it justice, her voice is beautiful, her rendition is melodic and her video is fantastic. In the meantime, you can settle for adding the song to your iTunes playlist.

  25. I just got my copy in the mail today, woohoo! My daughter has said she wanted to be a mermaid for Halloween for months…Oh and my favorite song is Under the Sea, which we sang in middle school chorus! 🙂
