Gift Ideas For Kids 8-12 From National Geographic For Kids ~ Giveaway

This post is sponsored by National Geographic for Kids, but my gift-giving excitement is my own.

Each year it gets harder and harder to shop for my kids for Christmas. On one hand, they love everything so I really can’t go wrong with any gift. On the other hand, we have so much stuff I try hard to come up with gifts that will be new, different, loved and practical. (Yep, I admit that I put a lot of pressure on my gift-giving!) This year I am giving my eight year old the gift of knowledge with National Geographic for Kids.

Gift Ideas National Geographic For Kids

While the gift of knowledge sounds like a boring mom idea, my daughter recently discovered National Geographic for Kids books at her school library and she thinks the books are anything but boring. The Weird But True! series is her favorite, and she loves sharing off-the-wall facts she learns about the world. Now on the 8th edition, her library only has the old versions so she will be thrilled to receive a brand new book.

A couple of fun facts from Weird But True! 8:

There are more than 400 words for snow in Scotland.

If you ate one variety of apple per day, it would take you more than 20 years to try all the different kinds.

I bet you didn’t know either of those facts! I sure didn’t. I can’t wait for K to share more facts like these that she learns from the book.

The National Geographic for Kids books are an easy read with bright graphics and funny facts that kids love. I love that the books expand her world by piquing her interest in a variety of topics that she wouldn’t know to be interested in. Even her little sister will beg her to read facts to her. Some of the things she has learned from National Geographic for Kids books have led to fascinating dinnertime conversations.

I can’t wait to hear what she learns from her new National Geographic for Kids books, and I highly recommend them as gift ideas for girls and boys ages 8-12.
