I love this time of year. The air is a little cooler, the holidays are approaching, and I love fall crafts. I recently made my first pallet sign in honor of fall and love the way it turned out. It’s the perfect combination of colors and textures for fall. This DIY Fall Pallet Sign was sponsored by Waverly Inspirations.
This month I will take on two Waverly Inspirations Challenges. The first, fall themed, and the second, a Thanksgiving theme (later this month). I had such a hard time with the fall challenge because I had two really great ideas. Ultimately, I decided on the Fall Pallet Sign because I wanted to showcase the paint and ribbon with the fabric – not just the fabric. But I still might make my other idea. We will see… Here are the fall challenge materials.
Aren’t the colors and patterns perfect for fall?!
DIY Fall Pallet Sign
A few weeks ago, I discovered Walmart carries small pallets, and since I love pallet signs I had to make one. It was super simple to put together, and outside of painting drying time it was really quick too.
Materials
- Waverly Inspirations Fabric
- Waverly Inspirations Ribbon
- Wood Pallet
- Waverly Inspirations Acrylic Paint in Cashew
- Waverly Inspirations Acrylic Paint in Cashew
- Vinyl
Directions
I started by painting the pallet with Waverly Acrylic paint in “Cashew.” (I recommend buying the 2oz paint as I didn’t even use half of the 2oz jar for two coats.)
I used my Silhouette Cameo to design the lettering for “Happy Fall,” and then I cut a stencil out of vinyl. I could have used the vinyl letters directly on the sign, but I wanted a hand-painted look. So instead of using the individual letters, I used the outline. I placed the stencil directly on my pallet and stuck it down well. Then I used Waverly Acrylic paint in “Truffle” to fill in the letters.
Once it was dry, I removed the vinyl to reveal my painted letters. (My daughter was fascinated with this process!)
To give the pallet a softer feel, I used Waverly Inspirations fabric and ribbon to created the bunting. This part was as simple as cutting out triangles, hot gluing them to the ribbon and then hot gluing the ribbon to the pallet.
I adore how my first pallet sign turned out. The colors and patterns are perfect for fall. I am ready for some boots and pumpkin pie, how about you?
