Ladies and gentleman, boys and girls the Magic Kingdom proudly presents our spectacular festival pageant of nighttime magic and imagination. In thousands of sparkling lights and electro-synthe-magnetic sounds – the Main Street Electrical Parade.
As a little girl, I was captivated by the glittering lights of the Main Street Electrical Parade. I was sad when it moved on to Paris, but again and again it has come back to Walt Disney World to enchant guests. And I have been just captivated by the lights as an adult each time it has returned.
In 2000, I found myself if the lucky position to dance my all-time favorite parade, and when it returned again in 2010 I introduced my daughter to magic of the Main Street Electrical Parade. I’ve seen the parade countless times, but I still get goosebumps as the music stars up and the synthesized voice begins.
Farewell Main Street Electrical Parade
So I was beyond thrilled to see my parade – the Main Street Electrical Parade – one last time before Walt Disney World bids it adieu. I snapped about a bazillion, more than 200, pictures of the parade and handed my phone over to my eight year old to video tape, just in case this is the last time we see the parade. (But not-so-secretly I hope to catch it on another return visit in the future.)
The Main Street Electrical Parade will make its final run at Walt Disney World Sunday, October 9, 2016. After leaving Disney World, the parade will travel across the country and return to Disneyland for a “limited-time encore engagement.”
Final dates to see the Main Street Electrical Parade at Walt Disney World are:
September 12, 14, 17, 19, 24, 26 and 28
October 1, 3, 5, 8 and 9
What’s Next For Walt Disney World?
Although we do not currently know what will replace the Main Street Electrical Parade when it leaves, I doubt Main Street will be dark for long before a new glittering nighttime parade makes it’s debut at Walt Disney World.
In the mean time, guests can enjoy the Boo To You Parade during Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. (Another family favorite.) After that, we will just have to see what magic Mickey has up his sleeve for Disney World.
