It’s summer, summer, summertime! And in my house that means it’s every time I turn around it is snack time!
You know the saying, “Out of sight, out of mind?” That only holds true with healthy snacks. It doesn’t matter how many healthy snacks I fill this house with, if the kids don’t see the healthy snacks first they automatically think snack time is for treats. To stop the crazy requests for junk, I carved out a special place in our fridge dedicated to help-yourself snacks.
The key to our snack drawer is ready-to-go snacks. Pre-washed grapes are perfect for grazing and single servings of Yoplait yogurt and applesauce make it easy for my girls to grab their favorites and snack happily.
Another important part of snack drawer success, including healthy snacks your kids love. Let’s face it, if kids don’t like healthy options — they won’t eat them. So I stuck with favorites like cheese sticks, Yoplait Greek Yogurt (coconut is my girls’ favorite flavor) and even juice boxes.
Don’t have a built-in drawer? No problem get a clear plastic refrigerator bin for easy organizing.
