It’s the final countdown… Yep, that song as been playing or repeat in my head for the last few days as my daughter comes home daily announcing how many days are left in the school year. The current count 10 – yes 10 days until summer! Wasn’t I just bawling my eyes out as my baby climbed the steps onto the school bus for her first day of Kindergarten? How is it possible that the year is almost over?
Well, since she is counting down the days anyway. I decided to finish the year the way we started, with an end of the school year countdown to summer craft. (In the fall we counted down to the first day of school with a School Bus Countdown.)
Countdown To Summer Craft
Materials:
- Construction paper
- Pencil
- Kid Scissors
- Glue stick
- Stapler (optional)
- Template
Start by printing the summer sun template I designed for this craft and have an adult neatly cut out the sun and the sun and sunglasses – don’t cut the circle yet.
While the kids start cutting out the shapes they traced, an adult can cut out the circle shape. Then let the kids trace the circle onto yellow paper and cut it out.
Assemble the shapes with a glue stick.
Hang your sunshine countdown to summer in a central location and tear off a link each day until the big day.
It’s the final countdown… are you ready for summer?
This is a fun idea! Thanks for the template
Yay! So cute! i am pinning for later… to my board that helps teach the letter S… this would be a great activity/craft to do that! S is for summer fun in the sun!
