Bath-Time Fun With The Toy Story Gang ~ Review

I love to sneak into the bathroom while my daughters are playing, turn on the bath water and listen for the squeals of delight from my almost one year old as she races as fast as her little knees can go to the bathtub. I have never seen a baby love bath time as much as my baby girl. The smile that takes over those little cheeks is just precious.

My big girl (4 years) has never been so fond of the bath, but bathing with her sister and a host of awesome bath toys helps. When I learned Disney and Mattel partnered up to bring Toy Story toys to the tub, I couldn’t wait for suds time.

To celebrate Toy Story’s newest toon, Partysaurus Rex,  kiddos can enjoy bath-time (or pool-time) fun with Rex and the gang on Rex’s new color changing party boat. (Check out the clip below.)

The Toy Story Color Changing Party Boat and Color Splash Buddies set sail in the girls’ bathtub to the delight of both of my daughters. My oldest loved the rainbow lights and arranging her new friends aboard the ship, while baby girl loved banging the plastic figurines against the side of the bathtub — bang, bang, bang. (Luckily for me, I was quickly able to show her that it was also fun to put them in her stacking cups and dump them out so the banging didn’t last too long.)

I have to admit I was a little concerned about the lights in the bathtub… batteries and water don’t mix after all. But after playing with the new toy regularly for about a month now I am happy to report that everything is ship-shape and water tight. The Color Changing Party Boat comes with two characters – Rex and Rubber Duck, and additional friends are available in two packs.

A word of warning for those who might want to set sail in the pool, while Rex and Duck float nicely, the additional toys sold in the two packs sink like rocks. It’s not a problem in the tub, of course, but if playing in the pool you might want to make sure the cast of characters stay on board the boat or have an adult ready to dive for friends.

In addition to the party boat fun, if you haven’t already guessed, the Color Splash Buddies change colors. In order to change colors, the friends must be exposed to icy cold water. This is the perfect job for Rubber Duck who can squirt cold water on the friends without making the bathtub too cold.

In addition to the Color Changing Party Boat, more Color Splash Buddies are available and sold in two packs. The two packs shown here are Woody with Trixie and Jessie with Ham, but all Buddies can join in the party boat fun.

I am a Mattel Disney Insider and was provided toys to facilitate this review, however, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

  1. My grandson is 22 months and just discovered Toy Story. His favorite character is Buzz Lightyear. He and I skype a lot since he lives far away, and he has recently started saying “Horray Buzz!” when I ask him if he likes Toy Story. He throws his hands up in the air and then claps. Can you tell I think he’s just too adorable?
