Back To School And Trying To Be Germ Free

School and germs are one of those things that goes hand in hand. When the kids go back to school, someone is bound to end up with a cold. Case in point, one week into the start of the new school year and my daughter is home sick with a fever and a sore throat. Oh goodie! Yes, the kiddos are headed back to school and that means a giant germ fest! (Ick!)

At K’s school I love that the first thing the kids are asked to do when they walk into their classroom each morning is wash their hands. (If only the same rules applied for adults and leaving the restroom…) Again before snack and lunch the kids line up one-by-one at the sink to wash hands. It may not keep them from getting sick every time, but it is a great policy that not only helps cut down germs but teaches them to be good hand washers in life.

At home we have a similar rule of hand washing the moment we walk in the door, but when we are out and about running errands washing hands isn’t always convenient. For all those times in between, including school pick up, I keep Wet Ones stashed in my bag and in the car.

I’ve always been a bit of a germ-phobe, but now with a baby in the house I am once again ever vigilant over keeping dirty hands away from the baby. And since big sister wants to love on her baby sis at every turn, that means I am constantly wiping down her hands. Oh my gosh – four year olds touch EVERYTHING!

Luckily it seems that my constant nagging urging to wipe/wash her hands seems to be getting through to her. Sometimes she will actually ask for a wipe so that we she can touch her baby sister. Sure thing kiddo!

The pocket size singles are perfect for stashing in my purse so that I always have them on me. I even keep a few stashed in my husband’s car, but in my car I keep a giant container of them! Next year when K heads off to Kindergarten and hand washing won’t be a school requirement, I will definitely keep a steady supply singles in her backpack!

Good luck to your students headed back to school, and I hope you are able to stay germ free!

Disclosure – I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Wet Ones. I received a product sample to facilitate my review and a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to participate.
