Delivering Sporty Spring Fun

A couple of weeks ago I told you about my plan to share a little spring-time fun with the kids at Kids House of Seminole for the the April SIMPLE Service Challenge for Champions for Kids. The weather has been wonderful here in Florida (except today when it is getting ready to rain, of course), so I thought balls, a hulu hoop, jump rope sidewalk chalk and more would encourage the kids to play outside and get moving.

I picked up all of my goodies a couple of weeks ago, and they have been hanging out in the garage waiting to be dropped off (and tempting my daughter). When I finally got around to packing up the car, I decided that since I was already making a donation and Kids House is always in need of toiletries, I should see what I might have in my donations stash that I could add to my donation. I always have something on hand that I picked up really free or cheap so I was able to grab a bunch of things to donate.

In addition to the toiletries, here is are the sporty spring items I picked up to donate. See more pictures from my entire shopping trip in my Google + slide show.

All packed up and ready to go. (Yes that is a boa in there, we had two so I decided we should share.)

When I picked K up from school, I surprised her with a bottle of Odwalla as a surprise. She was so excited and really liked it.

I turned around to text someone (before pulling out of my parking spot), and by the time I turned back around the bottle was empty. So much for sharing with mom…

While I have donated things to Kids House in the past via my moms club, I had never actually dropped off my donations personally. I was really impressed with the facility. There was a great play area filled with fun toys. (It looked like so much fun K really wanted to go play.) There were also a bin of new stuffed animals that I believe were to be given to each child who needs a friend, which I will have to remember for another time because I love the idea of these kids getting something to love. I didn’t go out back, but I could see a giant play structure on a playground. I was glad to see there was a nice area that the kids would be able to play with all of the outdoor things I brought to share.
