5 Must Haves To Battle Cold And Flu Season

Don’t get caught off guard when sickness strikes your house, be prepared now so that when someone wakes up and says, “Mommy, I don’t feel well,” you are ready to battle cold and flu season. Whether you have a cold versus flu, being sick is no fun. Stock up on these 5 must haves so you are ready when sickness strikes.

Must Haves To Battle Cold and Flu Season

This post is sponsored by Vicks.

5 Must Haves To Battle Cold And Flu Season

Vicks Humidifier – When registering for baby number three, this was one of the first items I added to my wish list. I am all about practical, and with three kids I know we will need to have multiples running in the house soon enough. Vicks cool and warm mist humidifiers help relieve congestion and cough in children and adults, especially in dry winter months.

Bonus – Add VapoSteam medicated cough suppressant with a warm or cool mist humidifier or vaporizer for even more relief from coughs and colds.

Puffs Plus Lotion – When you are continually blowing your nose, it is bound to get raw and irritated, which makes blowing your nose even worse. So I keep a stash of Puffs Plus Lotion tucked away for comforting noses with a little extra softness when someone is sick.

Thermometer – Although I can usually tell by touch when my girls are running a fever, I like to know how much of a fever so I can keep track of its progress. My techy husband was so excited to discover the Vicks SmartTemp Thermometer. The high-tech thermometer provides a reading directly to your phone via a downloadable app and it tracks the temperature history of each family member. So you can tell at a glance how their fever has progressed.

Fever Reducer – While a low-grade fever isn’t enough for me to grab medicines because I know it means the body is fighting, I can’t sit back when my kids are miserable. So I make sure to always have a pain / fever reliever on hand for every family member. As soon as they are feeling crummy and have a fever, it’s time to provide some relief.

A Good Movie – In our house sick = snuggles on the couch. To help make the time not so miserable, I always make sure there is a new movie and/or a favorite movie ready to watch. Whether that is stocking up on a DVD when it is on sale, or searching Netflix for something new it’s mom’s TLC.

More Vicks Cold And Flu Survival

In addition to the essentials, Vicks has other great products to help provide relief from cold and flu symptoms — even a few that were brand new to me and I am excited to add to our arsenal.

Vicks Winter Wellness Care Package

I live in Florida where most of the year the humidity is unbearable, but in the winter months it gets pretty dry. In the past, I have monitored humidity levels by how try my skin gets, not the most accurate measurement. So I was excited to discover Vicks Humidity Monitor. The ideal humidity level for wellness is between 40% and 60%, so clearly the natural reading of 57% is great. But once it starts getting cold I am sure that will drop, and it will be time to break out the humidifier.

This little guy might be the discovery I am most excited about. The Protec Cleaning Fish reduces up to 99% of odor causing bacteria, unsightly mold and algae growth versus untreated humidifier surfaces for up to 30 days. All you have to do is drop in your humidifier tank.

I need to have good facial tissue. Not the cheap stuff, because that is rough on the nose.

Boxes of tissues are our must-have items for the cold season. We seem to go through them like water.
