Protein-Packed Mac And Cheese

Everyone has a signature dish, and for my friend Megan, I like to think it is her Protein-Packed Mac and Cheese. (She also has an awesome cheese spread, but that’s another story.) The secret ingredient in her dish is cottage cheese. Until I tasted her mac and cheese, I had never even considered cottage cheese as an ingredient in mac and cheese, but one bite and she had me convinced.

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Friendship Dairies for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.

This protein-packed mac and cheese is her answer to potluck dinners for kids. All the kids ever want is mac and cheese, but she wanted them to have some more protein, thus her dish. And you know what, every single kid on the block gobbles up her mac and cheese — every time. As long as my kids eat her mac and cheese and some fruit, I consider it a potluck win.

Baked Mac and Cheese

How much protein does this protein-packed mac and cheese yield? Friendship Dairies cottage cheese contains a whopping 60 grams of protein in 16 oz, plus 28 grams of protein from Friendship Dairies sour cream, 48 grams of protein from the cheddar cheese and 6 grams of protein from the egg. That’s 142 grams of protein in the protein-packed mac and cheese. Since the dish serves 6-8, that’s 17 – 24 grams per serving.

That’s a lot of protein to fuel your family.

Friendship Dairies cottage cheese is The Original Superfood and is also a delicious base for dips, spreads, smoothies, mix-ins and it is a protein-rich addition to recipes. For more great cottage cheese recipe ideas and videos visit Friendship Dairies’ website.

I love throwing parties fueled by Protein-Packed Mac and Cheese.
