Hot Chocolate Spoons

One of my favorite things about winter is curling up on the couch with my family, a mug of hot chocolate and a new movie. Really, what could be better on a chilly evening? Since chilly days only last a short time here in Florida, I make the most of them by drinking lots of hot chocolate. Our favorite way to drink hot cocoa is with homemade hot chocolate spoons.

Did you notice something in that picture? Starbucks hot chocolate is now available in K-Cups! Whether I am drinking hot chocolate alone (shhhh) or with the family, enjoying Starbucks hot chocolate is now as simple as putting a K-Cup in the Keurig. (As if we needed another reason to love that machine.)

Available in classic hot chocolate and salted caramel, everyone can enjoy their favorite hot cocoa. With a hot chocolate spoon of course!

Hot Chocolate Spoons

Hot chocolate spoons are so easy to make I let my daughter take the lead on making them this time. They are really as easy as melting chocolate and adding a decorative candy. We went simple with red and pink hearts in honor of Valentine’s day this time, but you can get creative with peppermint, mini marshmallows, etc. The perfect desert to enjoy along with a cup of hot chocolate.

Hot chocolate spoons are the ultimate way to enjoy hot cocoa.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup chocolate chips (your choice of milk or dark)
  • Colorful sprinkles

Instructions

Melt the chocolate in a glass bowl on 50% power for 45 seconds. Stir well and return to microwave in 20 seconds intervals until melted smooth.

Use a spoon to scoop chocolate onto a plastic or wooden spoon. Immediately sprinkle with colorful sprinkles.

How to Make Hot Chocolate Spoons
Set spoons aside with handles propped up so spoon is level until chocolate has hardened.

Chocolate Spoons Sprinkles
Serve with hot chocolate. Dip spoon in and stir.
