DIY Grilled Hawaiian Pizza

Summertime and grilling go hand in hand. But by about mid-summer, we typically get in a grilling rut, grilling up the same steaks and burgers week after week. Last month, we discovered the delicious results of our first grilled pizza. It was great, but we wanted to step it up a notch and come up with something totally different. So we did, and the results defiantly broke our rut.

We grilled pineapple, ham and a JACK’S Pizza to create an easy, delicious and totally different Grilled Hawaiian Pizza.

You grilled what? Oh yes. That’s right folks, we made a Hawaiian pizza completely on the grill and it was umm-umm good!

Now this is how to get out of a grilling rut. Plus because we started with a frozen JACK’S Pizza, it was quick and easy!

First we grilled the pineapple and ham, just a couple of minutes on each side.

Gilled Pineapple Ham Pizza
Since we made this up on the fly, having never grilled pineapple or ham, we debated grilling directly on the grill or using our BBQ grill pan. Afraid the ham might tear and fall through, we decided to use the grill pan. It worked perfect, but if you don’t have a grill pan, you can put everything directly on the grill – the ham would have been fine.

After dicing the pineapple and ham, we topped and grilled the JACK’S Pizza. (For more details about how to grill a Jack’s Pizza, check out my previous post.)

While the pizza cooled, we decided to throw some watermelon on the grill too. Yet another thing we had never tried, and a great side to serve with the pizza.

The final result was dinner in less than 30 minutes that totally broke our Burger Boredom. What’s Burger Boredom? According to survey results recently released by JACK’S Pizza, Burger Boredom and Frankfurter Fatigue are sweeping the nation. Symptoms of this condition include listless grilling, half-hearted chewing and adamant refusals of a second helping. With more than 200 million Americans grilling each year, Frankfurter Fatigue could spread exponentially. If you begin to exhibit symptoms, just wash your hands, put down the ketchup and try JACK’S frozen pizza.

A few Burger Boredom facts from JACK’S Pizza to chew on:

  • Nearly 8 in 10 Americans want more choices when it comes to grilled food.
  • Nearly 40% of Americans are bored with standard grilling options like hot dogs and hamburgers.
  • 50% of Americans grill hamburgers all or most of the time.

Fun Fact: Last year, JACK’S sold enough pizza that, if paid side by side, they would stretch from Anchorage, Alaska to Miami, Florida.

So, do you have Burger Boredom? If so, grill up a new flavor with JACK’S Pizza. Try one of JACK’S pre-made flavors (pepperoni, sausage and pepperoni, supreme, etc.) or really mix things up and grill your own toppings to create a Hawaiian pizza.

Awesome. I don’t know why I haven’t thought to add toppings to a pre-made cheese pizza. I have never tried a pizza Hawaiian Style, but it looks delicious.

One of my husband’s favorite pizzas is Hawaiian pizza. In fact, he was the one who introduced me to it. We’ve never had it grilled, though. It looks yummy.

Hawaiian Pizza was my dad’s favorite. I think maybe my kids would like it. They have never tried it, but yours looks delicious. Maybe we’ll be grilling pizza this week. Thank you.

The pizza looks awesome. I think I could fix that for my hubby’s birthday. His all-time favorite pizza is pineapple and ham.

All these bored Americans should try grilled portobellos… my favorite! 😛 I have to say, though, that this is making me want to grill a pizza… maybe with some mushrooms on top.

We hardly ever grill (I think I married the only man on the planet who doesn’t enjoy it) but I would love to try a grilled pizza. We do love campfires and are in the process of building a fire pit that we plan to put a cooking grate over. I wonder how this would work over a wood fire?

We need a bigger grill, frankly. Not sure if we’ll get around to making this, believe it or not, it’s only 64 degrees outside, and this is the end of July, coldest summer I can remember.

I really love Hawaiian Pizza, but have never tried Jack’s before. I wonder if they have it in our area. I have yet to grill pizza, and I would have never thought about the watermelon! Hey you only live once!
