Chemical-Free Cleaning (That Smells Great!) With Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day

I used to call my college roommate Betty Crocker. She has always been the perfect homemaker (yes, even in college), while I have generally lacked in that department. I have gotten better over the years, but I still pale in comparison to her skills in all things homemaking.

I had the opportunity to visit my dear friend in the spring, it was the first time since college I have stayed with her in her home. A decade, a full-time career, a husband and three children post college and her homemaking skills have blossomed into something Betty Crocker would be jealous of. Her house runs like a well-oiled machine, it is impeccability decorated and I could eat off of any surface in her house. And she has an infant!

In addition to being a fantastic homemaker (and mom) she is totally green. I consider myself to be very eco-friendly, but she takes it to a whole new level. Remember I said I could eat off any surface in her house? I wasn’t kidding. Not only were they sparkling clean, but she cleaned every surface with all-natural cleaners. Her home is completely free of harsh chemicals — completely. (That’s what you get when you are married to a professor who has a doctorate in environmental engineering.)

While I was visiting with my friend, and enjoying her home cooked meals, I also took notes. I inspected the cleaning bottles she pulled out from under the kitchen sink, I checked out the soap bottles on the sink counter and I discovered a new brand — Mrs. Meyers Clean Day .

Not only was her house clean and chemical-free, but it smelled wonderful. (I wanted to move in.)

Back at home, I decided to finish up my mixed collection of soaps and cleaners and then introduce Mrs. Meyers in our lives. Meet my collection of Mrs. Meyers.

Mrs. Meyer's Clean Day Basil

Not remembering which scent my friend had in her home that I loved so much, I spent some time in the Target aisle sniffing Mrs. Meyers scents. I sniffed, and I sniffed. They all smelt so good, I had a terrible time choosing one to take home. In the end, I choose Basil (but I really could have taken home one of each!).

It isn’t just the smell, Mrs. Meyers Clean Day products “clean like the dickens!” For real. My house may not be quite a spic and span as my friend’s, but thanks to Mrs. Meyers my dishes are sparkling, my counters are spotless and my hands — well, I can’t stop smelling them.

If cleaning products made from plant-derived materials (that are also sustainable whenever possible) and natural oils work this well, why use synthetic chemicals? Why?

The big question is, which scent will I try next?

Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day® believes in a better way to get a good clean. Chock full of plant-derived ingredients and essential oils, our household cleaning products are powerful against dirt and grime. Our garden fresh scents uplift your mood while adding a little spring to you step.

these sound great there are so many cleaners out there that just opening the bottle makes me cough and gag. It never fails for me to break out coughing when I walk down the cleaning aisle in the grocery store.

Besides Target, do you know of any other store that carries Mrs. Meyers Clean Day? You have peaked my interest and I would like to try it.

Yep! Lots of places carry it – Bed, Bath & Beyond, Walmart, Amazon, even Walgreens (according to the website although I haven’t seen it in my Walgreens). Trust me, they smell soooooo good! 🙂

I love organic cleaners! They make me feel better about cleaning the house and my husband not getting sick (when he is being messy). I also love light smells; so refreshing.
