I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Cascade. I received a product sample to facilitate my review and a promotional item as a thank you for participating.
In our house, the dishwasher is on an endless cycle. From the moment I empty a load, it is already filling back up with dishes. Our main culprit – cups. Cups, cups and more cups. My family can easily drink their way through 10+ cups in a day, and there are only four of us.
I try to reuse cups when I can. But the truth is, I like to drink out of a clean cup at every meal. And baby girl is constantly stashing her cup-cup in some odd place, so rather than search for 10 minutes when she is begging for her cup-cup, I break out a new one — again. This plus dishes, roughly eight plates/bowls a day, plastic container, pots and pans, means that the dishwasher runs at least every other day and sometimes more. It is a vicious cycle.
To run my dishwasher, my primary weapon of choice is Cascade. Growing up mom used Cascade so the lemony smell reminds me of dishes at mom’s house. Of course, Cascade Pacs were not around back then, so she used liquid Cascade in a giant jug (from Costco). I remember how heavy that thing always was.
These days dishwashing is a lighter load (pun intended) with Cascade Pacs. Even mom has made the switch from Cascade liquid to the convient pacs. No more pouring and spilling, just pop in a Pac and done. I’m a big fan.
But Cascade is always trying to improve and the company recently introduced Cascade Platinum. It has the same Cascade I have always loved, plus Dawn plus even more grease and baked-on food fighting power.
Fight Hard Water
The biggest improvement Cascade Platinum has made over previous Cascade Pacs is the ability to fight hard-water film. Why didn’t someone think of that sooner! After eight + years in this house, running our dishwasher multiple times per week, hard water has left that nasty white crud in our dishwasher and on our cups. In fact, a new dishwasher is on my wish list because hard-water deposits in our dishwasher have left it running at less than its full potential (that’s the nice way of saying our dishwasher doesn’t work that well).
Cascade Platinum is designed to help prevent hard-water film, so I am not sure anything can be done with the stains already in place. But when it is time to get a new dishwasher, perhaps these little Pacs can help keep us from getting to the point we are now (or at least slow down the buildup).
In the mean time, I am game to try to prevent more build-up in the machine we have in hopes of putting off the need for a new one for just a bit longer. And maybe after some regular use the Cascade Platinum Pacs will even improve the cleaning power of the washer we have.
Top Chef Judge Gail Simmons
Whether serving up dinner for the family or blogging pictures of a new recipe, no one wants to see dull, dirty dishes. So keeping my dishes sparkling clean is important to me. And Top Chef Judge, and Cascade Platinum partner, Gail Simmons agrees.”I want my food to pop on the plate, I want it to have color and texture, but most of all I need a sparkling, beautiful dish as the foundation for it.”
Because the plate you serve your food on needs to look as good as the food you are serving, Simmons recommends impressing with a Platinum Presentation, “The easiest recipes pop with unexpected, gourmet presentations. Drizzle bright sauces on sparkling white plates or layer deserts in crystal-clean glassware. Keep your presentation sparkling with Cascade Platinum, which keeps dishes perfect for anytime entertaining and impromptu guests.”
