At any given moment in our house music is likely playing somewhere. The majority of the time I have one of the music channels playing on the TV, but lately I have been using my Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III to stream my Amazon MP3 purchases so my daughters can jam out no matter what room we are in. As great as the portability of my cell phone is, the sound through its tiny speaker is lacking.
The Soundfreaq Sound Step Recharge has been a great solution to solving the problem, giving us the flexibility of playing music no matter what room we are in, including outside, and even sounds great too. My techy hubby has owned lots of gadgets, but this compact portable speaker system was new to him as well. The feature I love most is the flexibility it gives you connecting your devices to it. Not only does it include an Apple dock connector to allow you to directly plugin (and charge) your iPhone, iPad and iPod, but it also supports Bluetooth A2DP streaming allowing you to wirelessly stream music from your compatible smart phone, computer, cell phone, tablet and more. Don’t have an iPhone, no problem it also has a connection (a 3.5mm input) that allows you to connect to pretty much any other audio device – works great with my Galaxy. But I have to say, the ability to charge Apple devices while it plays music is really cool! I like using it with my iPad too.
If you’re using an Apple iOS device, you can also download a free app that allows you to remotely control the Sound Step, and take advantage of the built-in FM radio tuner too. Pretty cool.
The other killer feature is the rechargeable battery that allows you to take the Sound Step anywhere without having to find an AC power outlet, out on the patio or garage, or wherever else you want to listen to some tunes. Soundfreaq claims 6+ hours of cordless use, which is pretty amazing.
With any speaker the sound quality is important, and the Sound Step Recharge has not disappointed. No matter if we are listening to my husband’s docked iPhone playing music directly on it, or wirelessly streaming music on my Android phone, the music sounds great.
The Sound Step Recharge is available in three colors black, white and red and can be purchased directly from Soundfreaq for $149.99 including FREE shipping.
