Ay, Chihuahua! The Beverly Hills Chihuahuas are back with a new adventure, and this time there are even more talking, furry friends to love — Papi & Chole had babies!
There’s just something adorable about talking dogs, and since my daughter LOVED The Search for Santa Paws, I knew she would be a Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2 fan too. Since the first Beverly Hills Chihuahua movie came out in 2008, the same year she was born, we have never gotten around to watching it with her, but skipping right to the sequel we didn’t miss anything. (Although as much as she liked the sequel, we will probably get a copy of the original now too.)
In the movie, Papi and Chloe and their pups team up with their pals Pedro and Delgado to save the families home and foil the plans of a band of bank robbers. The “adult” dogs even make a special appearance in a local dog show with some hilarious antics, and the pups, well, they get into all kinds of puppy trouble.
While I am not so sure about some of the… ummm… parenting advice of Papi. My husband pointed out that we aren’t supposed to be taking parenting advice from talking Chihuahuas anyway. (Good point.) LOL
We watched the movie together as a family over the weekend (in two settings) and it was enjoyable for all. After the movie, we checked out some of the bonus extras on the Blu-Ray. There is a cute interactive quiz that I am sure is great for older kids, but it was lost on our daughter, however, she did like the outtakes of puppies doing funny things and the music video (which she had seen on the Disney channel too).
The movie will be released tomorrow (February 1, 2011) on Blu-Ray and DVD. The best price I have seen for the Blu-Ray-DVD combo pack is $19.99 at Best Buy ($22.99 at Target). Don’t forget Target & Walmart price match, so if you still have the flyer from the Sunday paper take it with you to Target or Walmart to snag the movie for $19.99. PLUS, use this $10 off coupon for a final price of $9.99!!! (FYI, the coupon expires 2/8, so get the movie at this great price while you can.) At this price the movie would make a great Valentine’s Day gift for your little sweethearts.
PS – Don’t forget the re-release of Alice and Wonderland (the animated movie) also goes on sale tomorrow, and you can pick up a copy of it for $9.99 too.
Disclosure – I was provided a copy of this movie to review, however, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
I’ve heard such good things about this Movie! I can’t wait to see it!
