For my daughter’s Science Birthday Party, I wanted something to keep the kids entertained in between science experiments. Since my daughter and her friends enjoy word searches, I decided a science word search would be an easy and fun activity for them to work on in between activities.
If you have an elementary-age daughter who is into science, I highly recommend Project MC2. It is a very cute show with a strong girl power message as a group of girls use science and other STEM related activities to solve mysteries. (There are even cute Project MC2 toys that go along with the show that include fun science experiments.) My daughter’s current obsession with science and STEM is largely based around this show.
The phrase “Smart is the new cool,” is often used on the show. Although I think even those unfamiliar with the show can appreciate the idea behind it.

I put a stack of these on a table with a pile of pencils before the party, and sure enough once the girls were told to work on them while waiting the friendly competition was on. Who would solve the whole puzzle first? Although I didn’t have a prize for the winner, the girls had fun completing the puzzles.
After the party, I discovered these thermochromic “mood” pencils on Amazon, which would have been perfect. They would have gone right along with our “mood” nail polish we made and would have doubled as a cute (and practical) science party favor idea.
