At my daughter’s birthday party, I made our DIY photobooth even more fun with instant photos using Prynt. What is Prynt? Prynt is a portable photo printer that attaches to your phone and allows you to instantly print photos from your phone – a smartphone instant photo printer. Yes, instant pictures with your phone. So. Much. Fun.
This post is sponsored by Prynt, but everyone’s excitement over the phone printer is their own.
Photobooths are a regular stable at my kids’ birthday parties. The kids love holding up silly props and having their pictures taken. But I have never before had so much interest in our photobooth as I did when the kids discovered I was printing out their pictures to take home.
“I want one!”
“Make me another!”
Everyone wanted a Prynt.
And then the parents got wind of what was going on, and everyone came over to have a look. If I thought the kids were impressed, it was nothing compared to the parents.
“I always learn about the coolest gadgets when I come over here, now I know what to ask for for my birthday,” high praise from a friend.
Smartphone Instant Photo Printer
Prynt takes instant photos to a whole new level by allowing you to take digital photos with your phone and print them instantly. That means you get the best of both words – a quick print and the image saved digitally.
You can print pictures as you take them or grab images from your camera roll. So there is no worry about printing a picture with someone’s eyes closed – just chose another photo. (Unless that’s the look you are going for, of course.)
I didn’t tell my girls about Prynt prior to the party, and after the party my older daughter informed me that I must make a photobooth and do instant photos at her party in the spring.
Prynt is simple to use. After installing the app, just slide your phone on the device and the app will startup. Note – I had to take my phone case off in order for the device to plugin. That was the one downside.
Currently, Prynt is only available for iPhone users. But the Android device is currently on Kickstarter, so it is coming soon.
In addition to printing photos straight from your camera, you can also add borders with text. This is a fun feature for an event or birthday party, and I put it to good use writing “Happy Birthday Sydney” on the bottom of each photo so kids could remember where the image came from.
The “ink” is built into the paper (like magic). So you never have to replace ink, just the paper as you use it. The paper is also a sticker, so you can stick the photo anywhere.
And I haven’t even told you the part that blew everyone’s mind. It doesn’t just capture a still photo, it captures video too. When you take a photo a couple of seconds before the photo is captured and when you hold your phone up to the printed photo, the video plays. Check out this video to see it in action.
Prynt retails for $149.99 in a variety of colors, and the paper costs about $.50 a print. If you plan to print a lot of photos, Prynt also recently launched a paper subscription program to bring down the cost of individual prints too.

We had so much fun with Prynt Smartphone Instant Photo Printer at the party. I can’t wait to bring it out at Thanksgiving for my family to play with. It’s a fun device that would make an excellent gift for anyone on your list who likes fun tech.
