It seems like everyone I talk to lately tells me that this is their favorite time of year. The weather finally becomes a bit more mild, the views are a little more scenic, fall is always a fun time for both the adults and the kids and we are reminded that our favorite holidays are just around the corner.
Outdoor Fall Activities In Marion County
There are also so many fun fall/autumn festivals to attend as well. This makes it the perfect time to visit the family-friendly Florida Travel destination — Ocala/Marion County. Located conveniently in Central Florida, this beautiful location is the perfect go-to vacation spot for both short and long trips.
Ocala/Marion County is a haven for outdoor fun that is perfect for any fall vacation. Kids love the abundance of horseback riding trails (it is known as the horse capital of the world!), avid golfers love all the golf it offers and the shopping is fantastic. There are an abundance of outdoor activities, whether it is a swimming adventure in the beautiful clear springs or fishing in one of the several area lakes. The great location and diversity of things to do make Ocala/Marion County Activities the right choice for a family trip on any budget.
Speaking of horses, take the family to enjoy the Ocala Jockey Club International three-day event, November 25 – 27. Watch as jockeys compete for $100,000 in prize money at this family-friendly event. Trivia tidbit, did you know eventing(also known as horse trials) is the only high risk Olympic sport where men and women compete as equals, with no separate divisions.
Another great event coming up is Ocala’s 33rd annual Light Up Ocala. This year’s event will include The Downtown Holiday Skating Rink, live entertainment, crafts, food, children’s activities, Junior Sunshine Christmas Parade and the official downtown lighting ceremony. Plus kids can enjoy a “Whoville” themed kids zone where they can have their photo taken with The Grinch and his entourage of Who’s, and enjoy slides and bounce houses. Light Up Ocala takes place Saturday, Nov. 19 from 4 to 9 pm in Downtown Ocala.
This time of year, Ocala/Marion County pivots to become an even more beautiful and engaging of a place for families to visit. Whether you want to race across the canyons on a zipline or take a lazy horse ride down an Autumn trail tinged with gold, these are memories in the making.
