Back To School Tips With Healthy Essentials

We are three weeks into the school year, which means we are finally starting to settle into a routine. It takes a lot to get us (me) out of bed and moving in the morning, and we need all the help we can get to shave a few extra seconds off our morning routine. Because running to catch the bus is no way to start the day.

5 Tips For A Smooth School Morning

Pick out clothes the night before – Yes, I know it has been said a million times, but it is so helpful it bares repeating. Because in my house when I forget to pick out clothes the night before not only does it add craziness to the morning, but often it means K picks out something to wear that doesn’t come close to matching.

Back to School First Day
Give everyone responsibility – Let your kids know ahead of time what they are responsible for doing to get ready and hold them to it. For example, after getting my first grader out of bed she is to get dressed and put on her shoes before coming out for breakfast. (See picking out clothes the night before.) On the other hand, my preschooler is in charge of getting her shoes out of her closet and grabbing her backpack on the way out the door.

Johnson’s No More Tangles – One of the biggest areas for potential morning drama is brushing out morning tangles. Neither my oldest (straight hair) or my youngest (curls) like to have their hair done, but it is a must. To make the process smoother (pun intended), I use Johnson’s No More Tangles spray to tame the tangles and get us through the morning.

Countdown – One of the things that really helps my girls (and me) is to countdown how much time is left until we need to walk out the door. By letting everyone know how much time is left, it helps teach kids how long each task takes. “10 minutes until we need to leave, you need to finish your breakfast, pack your backpack and have your hair brushed.” “There are five more minutes, don’t forget to put your snack in your backpack and grab your jacket.”

Pack lunch the night before – Like picking out clothes the night before, this is a no brainer. Anything you can do the night before will help alleviate morning stress. In addition to lunch, I pre-pack a week’s worth of snacks on Sunday night. That way each morning K can grab a snack for the day off the shelf without seeking approval.

Healthy Essentials from Johnson & Johnson

Another way my family stay on track year round is keeping our house stocked with our favorite brands so that I never (or almost never) have to run out last minute because we have run out of something we need. And the best time to stock up is when coupons are available for products your family uses regularly.

You can find printable coupons on Johnson & Johnson products for the whole family through the Healthy Essentials website. Right now you can find coupons for Johnson’s No More Tangles, Aveeno, Neutrogena and more. Re-energize your routine for the new school year by stocking up on your favorite products, and don’t forget to get printable coupons and tips and tools from Healthy Essentials from Johnson & Johnson.

Find coupons for all of these products and more from Healthy Essentials.

We do the countdown thing too, it really helps. I don’t pack lunches the night before but I know I should. Your daughter is adorable!

I love that they offer such great savings, these are some of my favorite products. Your daughter is too cute! My son never cared much about matching until later in junior high and now (at almost 18) it’s very important that he looks good.

The countdown is a great idea. My son does much better when he knows how much time he has left.
