DIY Chex Mix: Honey Peanut School Fuel

Does your family love to snack as much as mine does? From morning snacks to after-school snacks and don’t forget late-night snacks, it seems like it is always snack time for someone in my house. All this snacking leaves me on a constant hunt for new snack ideas.

Chex Mix Honey Peanut School Fuel
A quick way to change up your snacking routine is with a homemade Chex™ Mix. Not just for serving at parties (although they are always a hit), Chex™ Mix is the answer to snack-time boredom.

As we start to settle into the routine of a new school year, K and I decided to mix up some new flavors for her lunch box. In just a few minutes K helped me create a sweet and salty, protein-packed snack.

  • 6 Cups of Corn Chex™
  • 4 Cups of Cheerios Protein Nut and Honey
  • 1 Cup Honey Roasted Peanuts

Directions:

In a large bowl mix the cereal and peanuts together.

Put the honey and butter in a microwave-safe dish and microwave for 1-2 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds, until the mixture to come to a full boil.

Pour the honey and butter over the cereal and mix well.

Microwave bowl, uncovered, for an additional 2-4 minutes until entire mixture is well coated and looks glazed.

Lay the cereal mixture out on wax paper or aluminum foil and allow it to cool.

Once cool stir in chocolate covered peanut candies and serve.
