Keep Your Nursery Fresh With Playtex Diaper Genie Elite + Carbon Filter

I’ve pretty much had a kid in diapers for the last six years. There was a short nine month period between K being potty trained and the birth of baby girl, but she was still wearing Pull-Ups at night so… pretty much six years. And for the last six years, my Playtex Diaper Genie Elite has served me well.

Playtex Diaper Genie Elite With Odor Absorbent Carbon Filter

For the most part, the nursery has always been fresh without the stinky odor of diapers — even though there is often a very full Diaper Genie in the room. It does its job keeping the odor inside. Now and again after a particularly stinky diaper I will get a foul whiff when I open the Diaper Genie to toss in another diaper. (Ick!) But that always prompted me to empty the Diaper Genie and all was restored.

Now Diaper Genie has even more odor fighting power with a new odor absorbent carbon filter. I already use carbon filters in my air purifier, so I am excited to have one in my Diaper Genie.

Diaper Genie Elite Carbon Filter
The carbon filters now come standard with the Diaper Genie Elite, but if you have an older model you can order one from Amazon for $3.99. Totally simple, yet very effective. And what I like about it is that it doesn’t try to mask stink with a heavy scent, instead the odorless carbon absorbs odors.

Diaper Genie Refill Test

In the six years I have been buying Diaper Genie refills, I didn’t even know someone made a generic version. And honestly, I am glad I didn’t because I might have purchased the generic if the price was better, but I would have been very disappointed.

Diaper Genie Refill vs Generic
As part of the Playtex Moms Trust I was asked to test a Diaper Genie refill along side a generic refill in my new Diaper Genie Elite system. Looking at the refills side by side, they look almost identical — I couldn’t figure out what the big deal was, but I was asked to test. In went the Diaper Genie refill. Everything worked like it should.

In went the generic refill… sort of.

Diaper Pail Refill
Huh? It doesn’t fit. At all. It goes in wonky, and the lid won’t close. (See why I would have been disappointed!)

Clearly the people at Playtex knew what I would find when I tested the new Diaper Genie Elite with the generic refill, but I didn’t. If I saw both items sitting on the store shelf, I would have totally bought the cheaper version. (Hello, it holds stinky diapers – I wouldn’t want to spend an extra dollar on the name brand.) But moms beware, sometimes the name brand is worth the extra dollar. Because I have a feeling that gap in the lid would start to make the room stinky, even with the new carbon filter.

The new and improved Diaper Genie Elite with carbon filter is now available. If you don’t want to replace your old Diaper Genie, spring for the carbon filter, you will be glad you did. And whatever you do, avoid the generic — get the refill that fits!

This so great for any nursery or new mother! Carbon is much better too because as you said,”And what I like about it is that it doesn’t try to mask stink with a heavy scent, instead the odorless carbon absorbs odors.” Knock the odor out completely! What could be better!
