I told K I had a surprise for her after ballet, so at the end of class she came running out asking, “What’s my surprise.” When I told her we were going home to pick up daddy and headed to the circus she litterally jumped for joy with a squeal. That excitement made my heart sing. This mom can’t resist doing fun things with her kids that make them happy, what mom can?
So off to Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Presents DRAGONS we went.
Having been to her first circus last year, K is an old pro now. And she quickly announced that she wanted cotton candy. (How did I know that would be the case?) If you are planning a trip to see Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey yourself, cotton candy is actually a good deal. (Note, good deal compared to other options, everything is expensive.) For $10 you get a treat, that K goes nuts for, and a hat. Snack and souvenir all in one, that I can go for. There are two choices, a top hat or a clown crown. See what K picked…
Cute, right?
The Greatest Show On Earth didn’t disappoint. There were some REALLY cool acts. In fact, after the show we all agreed that this year’s show seemed to have more big acts and less filler stuff. My favorite act was the girls in the bubbles. While I won’t give anything away, they totally surprised me and were really unique. My husband’s favorite act was the Globe of Steel (motorcycles in a cage), and I have to agree it was pretty awesome. (Who decided putting all those motorcycles in a cage would be possible?)
It was opening night, and the opening horse acts seemed to struggle a bit. But the other animals were in tip-top shape. I wowed over and over by the lion tamer who managed nine lions and tigers at once. Hubby kept saying that he looked one paw swipe away from a mauling, and it was true – I was nervous for him. But it was really neat to watch. After the big cats, you might not think an ordinary house cat would make it into the circus, but there they were. Along side the performing dogs (and goats) were performing house cats! Even though I am not a cat person, I was pretty impressed. A couple of the kitties were not so into the act and performed their own disappearing act (which gave the audience a chuckle). But it was cute.
Before the show, I wasn’t sure what dragons had to do with Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey… but by the end of the night it all came together for the story line. (Still a little hokey, but hey it’s all part of the show!)
Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Presents DRAGONS is in Orlando this weekend, and then it’s off to another city. Check out the full schedule to see if will be coming to your town.
