If you’ve been paying attention around here for the past few weeks, you might have noticed… I love back-to-school shopping. The excitement of starting a new year with a clean slate and fresh new supplies, not to mention scoring some HOT deals, I just love this time of year. (If only it were just a few degrees cooler…)
Even though my little one doesn’t need any “supplies” per say, she does need to look her best (so says mom) for preschool. Oh, and I am not going to pay an arm and a leg for her to do so because she loves to participate in every classroom class. BTW – I don’t know what standards go into labeling paint as “washable,” but it never seems to wash out of her little duds especially when it is my “favorite” t-shirt. So starting at the beginning of July, I am on a mission — to find the cutest clothes for my girl at the lowest prices. Oh, and to add to my challenge, it won’t be cool until Novemberish… so forget all the cute sweaters and pants, I am looking for fall-themed shorts and tees.
After purchasing a few “key” pieces for back to school (some plaid and jewel tones), I’ll mix in the rest of her summer wardrobe and wait to buy the few long sleeved, warm clothes she will need for cooler weather. After all, I really just like to shop so I don’t want to get it all at once. 🙂
Almost more importantly than clothes, what K needs most at the start of the school year is new shoes. Having lived in flip-flops and jelly shoes over the summer, I am always amazed to realized that once again the tennis shoes that fit fine at the end of school are now too snug to wear. (Do feet grow extra fast in the summer uninhibited by sandals and bare feel?)
This year there’s a new option for back-to-school footwear — Crocs! That’s right. The summer-time shoe has grown up, and is now represented by school-approved close-toed shoes for girls and boys K – 8.
Since my daughter only wants to wear pink, pink pink — I LOVE these metalic pink sneakers.

Interesting, but since we don’t have any Crocs I guess we don’t need a cute charm. =)
