Disney’s Have a Laugh Vol 3 & 4 Review & Giveaway

Mornings in our house would not be complete without Mickey Mouse, my daughter just can’t get enough of the Mouse and his pals on Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. But as much as she loves MMCH, she goes crazy when the Have a Laugh shorts come on TV. My guess is that it is in part because they are a surprise — run at various times throughout the day between programming — but I also think there is just something wonderful about classic Mickey that even a three year old recognizes.

Whenever a Have a Laugh appears on TV, K shouts, “Have a laugh, have a laugh” over and over until someone acknowledges the excitement that Mickey and his pals are on TV. And one of her favorite DVDs to watch is Best Pals (another classic Mickey compilation). So when Have a Laugh Vol 3 & 4 were released on DVD there was no question the DVDs would have to come home.

As expected, K was thrilled when I showed her the Have a Laugh DVDs. And while watching the DVD, each time a new cartoon came on she told me, “We know this one!” Yep, she has seen them all 🙂

Here’s a clip from Chef Donald in Vol 3 – this one always makes K laugh!

As much as I like the Have a Laugh shorts on the Disney Channel, my one issue with them is that I remember the full length cartoons from when I was a kid and I miss the full cartoon. I was overjoyed to watch the Have a Laugh DVDs and find out that the full-length cartoon is on the DVD. Now my daughter can experience the whole cartoon as Walt intended. (Frankly, I don’t think she noticed the difference, but I did!)

Each Have a Laugh volume includes five, full-length classic Disney cartoons. Following the full-length versions, the edited shorts are also include, and then three BLAM!s and a Re-MICKS. The only thing on the DVD my daughter doesn’t care for are the BLAM!s. BLAM!s are edited versions of the classic cartoons with a voice-over narrator and my daughter kept telling the narrator to be quiet. Apparently, the narator distracts her from watching her cartoons – it was really quite funny. So now we skip through those BLAM!s. Of course, she loves to get up and dance to the Re-MICKS.

  3. Love, love, love Rafflecopter. At times it bugs the bejeezus out of me when it says “done” and I haven’t put anything on the form yet, but most of the time it works.

  4. I really like Rafflecopter. I just wish that the actual entry could be in an “extra entry” field in Rafflecopter instead of in the blog comments. It takes twice as long that way.
