Is It Too Much To Ask For A Good Night’s Sleep?

Apparently, it is.

When I was pregnant with my first, my neighbor (who already had three kids under her belt) explained my inability to get a good night’s sleep due to the constant bathroom trips and position shifting as “God’s way of preparing you for sleepless nights when the baby arrives.”

She was right, I suppose. At any rate, it was a comforting thought… and made me feel like there was a reason for the incessant bathroom trips.

Unfortunately with baby #2, the insomnia issues began far too early… like say 17 weeks. And somehow my friend’s words are less comforting when I am going on weeks of sleepless nights that are only getting worse with a long road ahead…

Last night I believe I managed to see every hour on the clock through the night. Yes, I was up at 1 something, 2 something, 3 something… All night long.

Is it too much to ask for a good night’s sleep before the baby arrives? In theory I have 15 weeks to go… that’s a LOT of long nights followed by long nights of feeding.

It may be prep for the baby’s arrival, but I still think I’d be better off with a good nights sleep… Wish me good luck tonight.

I so understand what you are going through. I have 9 weeks left and would give anything to have a full nights sleep even just 4 hours together.

    Good luck!!!

How miserable! My insomnia didn’t start that early in pregnancy so I guess I was lucky. I cannot even imagine how tired you are girl! If it’s possible, try to sleep when you can during the day. I know, easier said than done since K keeps you so busy.

You know, I knew it was on the list… But I am always so leery about taking meds (esp sleeping meds – even when I am not pregnant). But I seriously think I will have to break down and do it… I can’t go on with no sleep!

Unfortunately, you are genetically predisposed to have trouble sleeping… Just be glad that you were a good sleeper as long as you were. I haven’t had a good night sleep since before you were born & both your Grandmother & Great Grandmother have/had sleep issues 🙂

I so feel your pain! I also have 15 weeks left to go (and a 3 year old daughter) and have been having sleep troubles for a while. I finally broke down and took a tylenol pm last weekend and got a glorious 7 hours of uninterupted sleep! I highly recommend!

Wow – we have like twin lives!!! My due date is Oct 9, your’s must be that week too! I think I am going to have to suck it up and try some Tylenol. Although I must say the day after I wrote this post (having been up all night) I had a really good night’s sleep (relatively). I think I was soooo exhausted!
