There’s no better way to cap off a fantastic weekend at Disney then with a VIP Sneak Peak of the newest TinkerBell movie – TinkerBell and the Great Fairy Rescue. As if being a Disney annual passholder, isn’t amazing enough as it is, every once in while something special comes along. So when I received an invitation to a VIP Sneak Preview for Tinkerbell for the same weekend we already planned to be out at Disney, there was no way I would miss it!
Having spent a full day at the Magic Kingdom (and another full day at Animal Kingdom and Epcot the day before) we arrived at Disney’s Hollywood Studios with an exhusted toddler. We feared a massive meltdown and/or K sleeping though the movie. As it turned out, she was so captivated by the movie (and the whole event) that we escaped drama free and she was wide awake though the whole movie. That’s right, she was too tired to fidget, so she was just glued to the movie. She looked so tired, but so happy.
The movie premiere was complete with snacks, movie trailers and more… But what made the premiere uber special is the fact that not only does this movie not come out until September 21 (and we saw it on Sept 12), but we are part of a small group of people who get to see this movie in a public theater setting since it is coming out straight to DVD/Blu-Ray. How cool is that!
I mentioned movie trailers, and before our movie started up we were treated to sneak peak trailers for Disney’s upcoming movies Secretariat, Tangled and The Search for Santa Paws. And guess what, we’ve been invited to a sneak peak of Secretariat – whoo hooo.
On to the movie (don’t worry, no spoilers) –
TinkerBell and the Great Fairy Rescue tells the story of TinkerBell’s first summer on the mainland. When she is captured by a human girl, her fairy friends fear the worst and set off on an adventure to save her. As they search for Tink, she befriends the little girl, Lizzie, and teaches her all about fairies. In addition to making friends Lizzie, she also helps bring Lizzie and her father closer together when the fairies save the day.
As if the movie wasn’t enough, following the movie Disney historian and artist Stacia Martin amazed us by quickly sketching Disney characters including Mickey, Flounder, Sleeping Beauty and more while sharing Disney history and trivia. She even gave her sketches away to lucky audience members who answered her trivia questions. Unfortunately, we weren’t one of the lucky winners (that would have been amazing), but it was still so neat to learn Disney history and watch her sketch.
What’s a movie premiere without the stars? That’s right, the cherry on top the evening was when TinkerBell and Vidia joined us for pictures! And of course, there were goodie bags 🙂
As expected with Disney, the whole evening ran like a well-oiled machine with every magical touch. It was a special evening that made our trip even more perfect. Thanks Disney!
If you haven’t already pre-ordered TinkerBell and the Great Fairy Rescue, I ordered mine months ago 🙂 You can still pre-order the DVD/Blu-Ray combo pack on Amazon for $21.99 (DVD only is $17.99). For those who prefer wait until the movie is in stores (September 21), I posted a $10 off coupon earlier this week.
Oh wow, what a cool experience! Love the picture with Tinker Bell!
I saw the pass holder incentive mentioned in the Mickey Monitor, but decided to pass on it (now, if it was something more boy related, we would have been all over it)! Is the premier of Secretariat also for pass holders or just the ones who previewed the Fairy movie? I’ll have to look into it, the movie preview looks great!
