Jennifer Burg, “The Suburban Mom,” Named to America’s PremierExperts®
Mar 25, 2010 – Jennifer Burg, founder of http://www.TheSuburbanMom.com, is one of only a handful of participants selected for America’s PremierExperts® class of 2009-2010 and participating in The Ultimate Celebrity Branding Experience®. As a new mom, Jennifer suddenly found herself as part of a whole new world, and she realized that moms everywhere were looking for the same things she was: product reviews, ways to save money, practical ways to be green, free stuff, first-hand DYI accounts and more deals. In order to help moms find all of those things and more in one location, “TheSuburbanMom” was created to chronicle all of the things this suburban mom does for her family and more.
America’s PremierExperts® LLC is an organization that honors an exclusive group of celebrity experts who are dedicated to spreading knowledge and awareness in their field of expertise and making significant contributions to their industry and the marketplace as a whole. About Jennifer Burg, The Suburban Mom:
TheSuburbanMom is the journey of one mom’s life in suburbia. After the birth of her daughter in 2008, Jennifer found herself in a place that was familiar to moms around the country but new to her – she had become a stay-at-home mom. While she loved her time with her daughter and found friendship in other local moms, Jennifer’s type-A personality needed an outlet. Since her new world revolved around her daughter, she sought an outlet that would include her daughter and her “new” life as a mom. In one short weekend, TheSuburbanMom was born.
“So, who is TheSuburbanMom? I’m a SAHM, I’m a WAHM, I’m a WOHM. I’m frugal, I’m green, I’m a toy-picking-up machine. I’m a woman, I’m a wife, I’m a Modern Momma. If you are all of those things and more, YOU are a SuburbanMom”*
In her previous life – pre-kids (PK) – Jennifer was a magazine editor, a human resources director, a consultant and a writer. Today, she uses the skills she learned in those positions to serve her clients as a freelance writer and editor and as TheSuburbanMom. A graduate of the University of Florida’s College of Journalism, GO GATORS, Jennifer considers it a privilege and a challenge to balance working from home with caring for a busy toddler. Jennifer lives in the suburbs of Orlando, Florida with her husband, Bobby; their daughter, Kendal; and their yorkies, Bear and Bella.
* SAHM = Stay-at-home mom, WAHM = Work-at-home mom, WOHM = Work-out-of-home mom

The Suburban Mom’s Night Out
Once upon a time, nearly two years ago, a night out with the girls meant a chance to unwind, talk about work, talk about travel, drinks and laughter. Before my daughter, I would have never pictured myself on a girls night out in a kitchen learning to decorate a cake, talking about household cleaning products, discipline, schoolsand other such suburban things. But a couple of weeks ago, that is exactly what I did on a great night out.
It’s funny because that is what prompted me to start this blog in the first place, just how much life had changed. From looking forward to a fancy weekend trip to having fun a kid’s second birthday and talking about household chores. Life sure has changed, but one thing has stayed the same. This Suburban Mom still loves a night out with good girlfriends, and said night out always includes lots of laughter!
Before you judge the images below, please remember this was our first time ever decroating a cake. So, they actually turned out well… considering. I don’t think this will be my new DIY project – I am having my friend (the host/teacher of this event) make the cake for my daughter’s birthday - it is safer in her hands. I will stick to the paper and cloth crafts. (By the way, keep an eye out for some fabulous Minnie Mouse DIY coming your way.)
Ahhh… life as TheSuburbanMom – I LOVE it!
What’s your favorite girl’s night out activity? (In other words, what should we try next!)
Yep, that’s me – hard at work.
(This is my cake, so pretty… sort of!)
All the lovely cakes.
TheSuburbanMom gets a Facelift!
Notice anything different? Do you like it? I hope so.
TheSuburbanMom.com was born in just a weekend, and while I LOVED my last layout, there were some limitations for growth. So, at the urging of my husband I selected a new look. Not only is it clean and easy to navigate, but there is a lot more room for growth.
See all of the fancy new ads around the site? Those are all ways you can help support TheSuburbanMom.
