Bring Art To Life With Crayola Color Alive

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Crayola. All opinions are 100% mine.

Art and technology come together in a new way with Crayola Color Alive. For my budding artist who loves all apps, Crayola Color Alive is a fun new way to interact with her artwork on a whole new level — 4D! Mom loves the integration between coloring in the real world and screen time, and K loves to bring her designs to life.

Crayola Color Alive Action Coloring Pages come in four themes: Skylanders, Mythical Creatures, Barbie and Fairies.

Crayola Color Alive Review
There was no question which coloring book my fashion-designer-wanna-be would choose to color first – Barbie. And the results were magical.

“Wow, it is just like how I colored her!”

Crayola Color Alive Barbie Review
With Crayola Color Alive kids can bring their artwork to life simply by scanning it, turning their creations into interactive 4D figures. On of K’s favorite features was being able to take a photo of herself with her 4D creation.

In addition to snapping pics, the augmented reality app also allows you to move the 4D character, grow/shrink your character and have your character perform an action (the action is different for each coloring page, in Barbie she twirls, giggles, bows and more).

Crayola Color Alive Tips

While playing with Crayola Color Alive, we discovered a few tips that made our experience better.

  • Be sure to have your artists color with pressure. Areas that are colored lightly don’t translate as well into 4D.
  • The Crayola Color Alive App is available in iTunes and Google Play. We started using the family’s old iPad, but quickly moved to using my phone because the camera quality is better on my phone.
  • You can use any Crayola crayons to color the Crayola Color Alive coloring pages. But each 16-page coloring book comes with one special crayon that unlocks special effects on the page — it makes the pages sparkle where the page was colored with the special crayon.
  • On our first pass, we missed the ability to save your 4D creations. That feature allows you to create your own scene combining real world with the virtual character. A definite must.

Crayola Color Alive App
Crayola Color Alive coloring books are available for $5.99 for 16-page book with 7 crayons (including the magical special effect crayon) or $1.99 for an 8-page bundle of coloring pages (including unlimited printing ability). If you want to try it before you buy it, the free Crayola Color Alive app includes a couple of free coloring page samples to print and try.

Crayola Color Alive is just plain cool, but it is also one of those things you have to see to get it. So we made a quick video about using Crayola Color Alive.

Just like that, Crayola changes coloring forever. Bring Your Coloring To Life with Crayola Color Alive.
