If you would like a snapshot of my life, you need only ask my mom for a copy of the annual Christmas card. In my 30 (something) years, Mom has never once failed to send out a Christmas card. Once she put hearts over the little Christmas emblem and sent them out as Valentine’s Day cards, but she has never not sent out the annual card. 

Christmas cards are a big deal in my family. And choosing the perfect picture for those cards is a big deal. When we were young, the cards just happened. Then as we got older, there were squabbles about which picture to use on the annual card. My sister and I weren’t about to let her use that picture.

Today, I carry on that tradition. Searching high and low for the perfect, coordinating ensemble for my family’s annual photo. And then, getting the perfect picture — of the whole family. It is quite a process.

You know what’s fun? My girls are almost exactly the same ages in our 2012 card as my sister and I were in our 1983 card. K is my mini me, and gosh sissy looks like my sister!
