Produce for Kids ‘Healthy Families, Helping Kids’ ~ Publix Giveaway

TSM-PP

Attention Publix Shoppers – Through October 30, 2013 when you purchase participating fresh fruits and vegetables at Publix a donation will be made to support local health and nutrition-based classroom projects through DonorsChoose.org.

The donation is part of Produce for Kids’ second annual “Healthy Families, Helping Kids” in partnership with Publix. The donations are sales based, so the more produce families buy, the more will be donated to local classrooms.

Now that’s an easy way to support local schools — buying fresh produce for your family!

In 2012, the campaign raised more than $105,000 for local schools.

Produce for Kids encourages healthy eating among families by providing simple, healthy meal solutions and resources for parents, while raising funds for local children’s non-profit organizations. Since 2002, its campaigns have raised more than $4.2 million for children’s non-profit organizations.

Produce for Kids Logo

Keep an eye out for signage to direct you to participating produce items including:

  • Crunch Pak – Sliced Apples
  • Del Monte – Fruit Naturals Cup
  • Fresh Express – Packaged Salads
  • Georgia Pecans
  • Marie’s – Refrigerated Salad Dressing
  • Oppy – Tomaotes on the vine
  • Select One – Tomatoes on the vine & beefsteak tomatoes
  • Sunset – Campri Brand Cocktail tomatoes
  • Village Farms – Delectable Tomates

Shoppers should also be on the lookout for Produce for Kids signage, featuring characters from the popular Sprout® television show, The Chica Show, in the produce section of local Publix stores. There, they will be directed to visit www.produceforkids.com for even more Ideal Meals recipes, tips and solutions to help shoppers keep their families healthy for back-to-school and year-round.

Calling all Teachers

Teachers in Publix’s market are encouraged to upload their health and nutrition-based classroom projects to DonorsChoose.org to receive funding from the Healthy Families, Helping Kids campaign. All Money raised during the campaign will be used to match donations to health and nutrition-based classroom projects in Publix’s local communities. Produce for Kids will enlist the help of the public to match donations to all projects that meet these requirements.

Healthy & Seasonal Recipes

On the Produce for Kids website you will find more than 90 easy Ideal Meals recipes and lots of  tips on healthy eating for kids. Two recipe ideas that caught my eye – Apple Pumpkin Muffins and Pear-Stuffed Baked Apples.

Giveaway

One lucky reader will receive a $25 Publix gift card so you can go shopping for produce for your family while supporting the Healthy Families, Helping Kids campaign.

To enter – Please use the Rafflecopter form below to take advantage of your entry opportunities.

MANDATORY ENTRY MUST BE LEFT AS COMMENT ON BLOG POST BELOW– then you can check off in Rafflecopter that you did it. Otherwise, all other entries will be invalid. *** PLEASE be sure to read instructions in Rafflecopter form as to what to comment about.***
