I am thrilled to share with you a project that has been in the works for a while now, I have been featured in an ebook created by Chef Boyardee as part of the Little Chef’s program. I am super excited about this little project because one of my personal goals for 2012 was to publish an ebook.
The Little Chef’s ebook is a collaborative effort from many bloggers, and I am honored to have been asked to contribute to the content. My contributions appear in chapter 5 “Fun with Flavors,” which begins on page 29. You’ll even find a picture of my K enjoying a few of her favorite (slightly unusual flavors) capers, edamame and green olives!
I hope you will check out our ebook and learn new ways to enjoy cooking with your little chef’s in the kitchen.
There is still more to come from the Little Chef’s Project, including live cook-a-longs where you can virtually meet the authors and get even more tips on enjoying the kitchen with kids. I will be chatting live on November, 8 and will remind you soon to join me for Fun with Flavors. Feel free to stop by and check in with the authors of Family Time on November 1 as well.

Oh, my kids don’t explore new flavors, unless that new flavor comes in a candy wrapper. 😉
Seriously, though, I just ask them to try everything once. If they don’t like it, they don’t have to finish it. And when they don’t like something, I continue to offer it to them with the hope that maybe they’ll come around.
I try to encourage them by explaining how fantastic it is to try new things and tell them the ingredients etc
We try everything at least once.
I encourage them to try it once and frequently they like it.

We ask them to try everything on their plate, sometimes even they are surprised by what they like 🙂
teaching a child and letting them make choices about there food is the best way
We try to encourage them to try it once, and explain why some foods are better then others. I think explaining the reason you have them try it helps.
I try to get them to try new fruits and veggies by serving them with dips they enjoy.
I encourage them to at least take one bite. If they don’t like it that’s fine but at least they tried!
We sit down as a family and eat the same things. The rule in our house is that you always have to try something. You can’t just look at it and say “I don’t like it”. Who knew my 5 year old would love pistachios?
My trick is to mix new flavors with existing flavors they like.
I encourage them to try at least a bite (sometimes my husband needs that encouragement too!). Sometimes things taste a lot better than they look or sound. 🙂
I encourage them to try it once.
Thanks for the chance!
give him just a little bit to taste
My son is picky as heck so I really can’t teach him to explore new flavors. He won’t even try anything new
I try to make it fun with my nieces, it is hit or miss haha
I try and get him to try new foods by trying them with him or giving the food cute names. I can also get him to eat it by feeding his toy Dora.
I ask my grandson to take a small bite of something at least once
I persuade her to take a bit by telling she can watch Bubble Guppies afterwards! Never fails!
Having a garden helps them want to eat new foods. And being apart of it and watching it grow makes the veggies and fruit more interesting and they are more willing to try it. Thanks!
They like almost everything so they are ready to eat and try. Makes it easy for me. Rain is alittle pickier-like with broccoli, but we have him just try a small piece.
I cut new veggies and fruits in bite size pieces and serve them with a dip
Thank you for hosting this giveaway

I try to make the food fun with things like making faces with raisins and celery etc and my kids will eat just about anything if they have ranch to dip it in!
My little girl is only 15 months old so I just give her the new foods to try. I will eat along with her and comment on how good it is. If she spits it out, I sing to her “if you’re happy and you know it eat your food” and we clap and laugh and then most of the time she will eat the food. She just loves dinner and a show I guess. 🙂
We try to encourage our kids to try new flavors of foods by having them available in the home and setting good examples by trying them ourselves.
By trying to have lots of different varieties of foods to choose from.

I try it with them
I encourage my kids to try new foods by eating it and explaining how it grows & why it’s good for them
I take my daughter when I grocery shop and she picks out one new food to try on every trip
