New Bertolli Classic Risottos & Meal Soups Bring Delish To The Freezer

I have long established that I am a picky eater. When it comes to frozen meals, I am picky to an extreme. I don’t care for peppers and onions, and since many frozen dishes use those flavors to mask otherwise bland dishes, there’s not much in the freezer section at my grocery store I will eat. Since there are many nights when a frozen meal comes in handy, when I find a meal that isn’t smothered in peppers, I am willing to give it a try.

When I was asked to try the new Bertolli Classic Risottos & Meal Soups, I was intrigued and eager, but I reserved judgement. The pictures looked good, but would the meals prove their worth.

Holy cow – they did!

We decided to make the Roasted Chicken & Mushroom and the Italian-Style Wedding Meal Soup together for dinner one night. But after we began to defrost the meal soup we realized that when Bertolli calls it a meal for two, it’s no joke. The frozen soups include enough to fill two large soup bowls and two hungry tummies. As the chunks of soup began to simmer, we put the risotto back in the freezer for another night.

I can honestly say that I have never purchased pre-frozen soup. I didn’t even know it came that way. But I will be buying and serving the Italian-Style Wedding a lot this winter. It was sooooo good. Seriously, I really think I could make up several batches of it and take it to a diner party! It is that good, and that filling. I have been raving about it to everyone I know. I am going to keep my eye on these and stock up if I see them on sale for sure.

A few nights later we did manage to try the Roasted Chicken & Mushroom, which was also surprisingly good. (No peppers.) It does have mushrooms, another thing this picky eater avoids, but I was able to pick around them for the most part and enjoy the chicken risotto. While the soup was definitely my favorite, I will happily eat this again too. It was quite good.

I was also sent Garlic Shrimp risotto and Lobster Ravioli in a Seafood Bisque. Since I am allergic to shellfish  I did not try those dishes. But I will take my husband’s word that they were also both good.

So there you have it. This picky eater has been won over by not one but two new Bertolli frozen dishes. In fact, I am craving soup now…

  1. The Roasted Chicken & Mushroom sounds delish 🙂 I’m often weary myself when it comes to the taste from frozen meals but I’m really intrigued at the notion of frozen soup hehe. Thank you for the opportunity!

  2. I’d love to try the Italian Wedding Soup! I usually make my own, but it would be nice to have a yummy one with a lot less work! It would be much quicker to put that together for the family on busy nights!

  5. I gave up long ago on frozen meals since I also hate peppers and the pasta sauces are always terrible! So, I’ll have to try these – they sound great for those busy evenings. Thanks for the heads up on them!!
