My daughter is the queen of routine (or should I say princess). She likes to do the same things in the same order every day, and oh boy if I try to change things up on her. Part of her morning routine is juice and gummies after her milk/t/Mickey. (Did I mention, ever routine also has its own name.) In K terms, that means her favorite juice with her vitamin gummies, after she watches Mickey Mouse Clubhouse on TV while drinking milk.
A couple of weeks ago, I found juice on clearance for $1. It wasn’t her juice, but it was 100% juice with no sugar added. It met my criteria, so bought it figuring she could survive for a week with a difference juice. One sip in and there were tears. She did not like the new juice and wanted her juice. (That’s a whole jug of juice wasted.)
While she insisted I not try to switch it up on her again, this week I changed things up on her again. (Crazy mom!) This week I served her Nature’s Nectar 100% Berry Burst Juice ($2.49 at Aldi). I pretended not to watch her as I waited for her to take the first sip with her eyes glued to the TV. As she tasted the juice she turned to me and said, “Yum, I like this juice mommy. What is it?”
After I answered the question, she went back to drinking and watching TV. Success! (Take that clearance juice!)
In addition to our informal taste test, Nature’s Nectar 100% Berry Burst Juice recently won the SELF Healthy Food Award. Recipients of the award had to first meet strict dietary requirements – 100 percent juice with no additives except citric acid (vitamin C), calcium, beta-carotene or vegetables for coloring. Qualifying products were then served to a panel for a blind taste testers where two products were selected in each category. (See you don’t have to put in all of that other stuff to make something taste good!)
In addition to enjoying served as a cold glass go juice, the Adi prep kitchen offers a number of recipe ideas to serve up Berry Burst Juice including this yummy idea for Very Berry Pops.
