I don’t know about you, but my goal in life is to be that mom who looks like she has it all together all the time. You know, the one you see at Publix artistically balancing two happy, well-behaved kids, her shopping list, coupons and a cart filled with necessities. That one you don’t see sweating as she firmly tells her three year old for the 100th time to stop begging for XYZ while trying to console a crying infant and remember what was on her shopping list that she left on the kitchen counter along with her sanity.
That’s my goal… however much I fear the later.
In order to achieve my (somewhat lofty) goal, I am arming myself with the equipment I see those calm moms utilizing in order to achieve their picture perfect shopping trip including the ERGObaby Carrier.
Since the first thing we all notice is aesthetics, I have to say that ERGObaby offers some of the best looking carriers I have seen on the market. With nearly 20 designs including patterns from Petunia Pickle Bottom and Organic, there is a design for everyone. I wanted something fairly neutral and yet not too plain, so I choose the Galaxy Grey carrier with embroidered stars and galaxy lining. Look how pretty.
Another thing I love about this carrier is the attention to details in the design. Since carriers are meant to accommodate people of a range of sizes the straps are, of course, adjustable. What I immediately noticed is that when pulled tight on me there would be lots of extra straps hanging down — just right for a three year old to tug on. But someone at ERGObaby took this into account and added an elastic band to the end of every strap so you can actually bundle the extra straps up so they don’t get in the way. Genius!
Another well-thought-out feature is the addition of a zipper pocket in the front of the carrier that is perfect for a cell phone, wallet or keys. Storage is definitely a mommy must have. 🙂
When expecting K I remember thinking that babies were so small. I couldn’t understand women who complained about carrying them around, they aren’t that heavy. Well, listen up first-time moms — even an 8 -10 lbs baby starts to feel like you are carrying around a ton of bricks, and they continue to get bigger! They want to be held all of the time, and you will find your arms going numb. The wide waistband on the ERGObaby with padded support helps shift the weight from your shoulders to your waist. Even wrapped around my big old belly, I can feel the support of the nice thick waistband.
Since I wasn’t sure I could manage K in the carrier right now, I decided my 5 lb Yorkie would be today’s model. (Please excuse the no-makeup look!) Isn’t she cute! She actually really liked it because it was storming outside and she wanted me to carrier her. LOL

I have used this from birth with my now-2-year-old and love it. Perfect for the grocery store and airports and museums and just for walks around town (we live near NYC, so it was great for subway trips with lots of stairs). I still carry my 27-lb boy in it for air travel.
I really really really want one of these! I haven’t seen the gray with stars, and I must say it is the cutest one I’ve seen.
You will need 2 – one for the front and one for the back 🙂
I really want to try one of these. I have another carrier and it’s really difficult to get my 6 month old in and out of unless my husband helps me. Is this one easier to manage on your own?
It is hard to say for sure since baby hasn’t arrived yet. It was easy with my pup – LOL!. But that’s why I got this one because it seemed much easier. I had a different carrier with my first and while it worked well for my hubby, it took 2-3 times of me standing in the parking lot trying to get my daughter in to decide I was never using it again. It was a royal pain. I have friends who told me this one would be easier, and swear by this carrier. Hopefully that helps 🙂
I have been researching baby carriers for a few weeks now and have come to the conclusion that the Ergo baby carrier is the gold standard. I haven’t had a chance to try one yet with my son, but would love to get one. I have a SleepyWrap, KarmaBaby sling and Snugli and the Ergo baby carrier’s design looks like it solves a the problems I’ve encountered with these others.
I got an ergo after borrowing a friend’s for a while and I only wish I got it sooner. My daughter had colic, so it would’ve been great to have for her when she was even younger. The hood was great for keeping people from touching her as a lot of people do with young babies. It also let me nurse while walking around and stay covered. It was a little awkward to get used to putting it on, but you just have to find what works for you. There are 2 buckles to close behind you (one at your waist/hips and another between your shoulder blades). What worked for me was to keep the shoulder one closed all the time since it was a little hard to reach and then slip it over my head when I was putting it on, then just close the hip buckle. It was easy to tighten/loosen, so I would loosen it when I took my daughter out and just pull it tight once she was in. The pocket made it great for shopping; kept my phone and debit card and maybe a diaper there and that was all I needed sometimes. Now that my daughter is 1 1/2 and doesn’t like being tied down, I haven’t tried her in it on my back or side, but I will soon. It washes well also. A couple friends have borrowed it and loved it, too.
I have the tan one & love it! Even my husband who has trouble with his back uses it. When I was expecting I was able to carry my toddler in in very comfortably!
looks incredible, comfortable and would be much needed soon.
Am wanting an ergo baby carrier so much,It is truly a wish for me to have one.
I have admired the grey galaxy ergo for some time now I hear it’s the most comfortable carrier on the market- did you see the new petunia pickle bottom prints?
love the new petunia pickle bottom prints.
I would love to have an Ergo. Thanks for the review! I love that it has 3 different carrying positions.
First grandchild on the way and this is something my daughter wants at her shower. Would love to win, thank you for the giveaway.
This looks like a great product!! I have a different baby carrier and it is soooo difficult to get the baby in and out of. This product would be nice to win.
I hear that this is the best carrier out there. Comfort for both parent and child
I have a baby that you can’t put down! This would be my dream prize!
Hmmm…I’d be interested in giving this a try! I like that it holds up to 40lbs!
I first saw this on a woman at Costco, she got out of her car, put it on her and then put her baby in it like it was nothing! Here I was standing in the parking lot next to her, with the help of my boyfriend, struggling to put my baby in another name brand carrier!! I knew right then and there I NEEDED one of those!!! My kids (I have 3 boys ages soon to be 7, 2 1/2 and soon to be 1!) and they are not small kids! My almost 1 yr old is 29in tall and 23lbs and is not walking yet! I’d give anything to have this to carry him around in! Another thing Ive noticed w other carriers is that they dont seem very comfortable for me or my baby, but this one looks like it fits every kid just right, regardless of size!!
I love my Ergo. Love it!
there are so many looks to choose from
Nice review – I so need one of these! Especially now with 3 kids, it would be great to strap #3 to me and have two free hands to hold #1 and #2. 🙂
Here are my real opinions as I have tried many carriers out there. I really enjoy ERGO baby. I love how comfortable it is for me and my daughter who is now 4mons. I started with Moby wrap when she was born… I dont hate the moby but oh my how pain it is to put on! I ditched that right away. Baby bjorn- I used bjorn with my son who is now 5… Uncomfortable!!!!!! If it was uncomfortable for me then I’m sure it was for him as well. I love the ERGO- here are my reasons for it. It’s so easy on my shoulders. It doesnt even feel like you have anything on it. I noticed that with ERGO it’s really a perfect fit for infants. I liked that I had my infant insert option. My daughter loves being on my hip so she can look around but when she is tired she can rest her head on my chest. You don’t have to worry about her suffocating ever because of the way it’s designed. I liked that it had a canopy cover to avoid sunrays while she naps or you don’t have to worry about people touching your baby and most importantly perfect cover for breast feeding! I take ERGO everywhere.. I have it in my car and always have to bring it in inside so I can vacuum, clean and do laundry with her. I put her in for quick errands or picking up big bro from school. I love love love this product. Great investment ever for babies. Easy to put on easy to travel and COMFORTABLE 🙂
