Sid The Science Kid + Giveaway

This was my first real introduction to Sid the Science Kid. My daughter had seen bits and pieces while letting mom shop at Gymboree, but I had never sat down to watch Sid the Science Kid until now. (I love that they have a TV in Gymboree.) What a cute show!

We sat down together to watch Sid the Science Kid: Sid’s Sing Along before nap time, and about half way though my daughter was up dancing to the songs. I love that Sid is all about learning in a cute fun way, and in this episode Sid and his pals put on a backyard concert with science themes. Once I got over the character’s lack of lips (seriously, I can’t watch their mouths as they speak cause it creeps me out), I really enjoyed the story and songs. And, of course, even more importantly, my daughter loved them too. (She didn’t even notice the lips :).)

In this DVD, “Sid wonders what he could possibly do on his days off from school. But when all of his friends come over for a play date, they quickly put their science minds together and decide to put on a show in the backyard! They each take turns rocking out as they sing their favorite science songs for a a very appreciative audience of Mom, Dad and Zeke [baby brother]!”

Judging solely from this episode, this is a cute series for the preschool crowd with lots of opportunity to learn and sing along without some of the garbage you find in other programs. (It definitely speaks highly of Gymboree that this is one of the series they show in its stores.)
