Thank you to Streamsong for sponsoring our visit to the resort.
Streamsong Resort Florida
With its quiet ambiance and rolling hills, you might just forget that you are still in Florida. In fact, this Florida girl didn’t even know Florida could look like this. I have to be honest, when I first received the invitation to visit I thought the resort was in Arizona from looking at the pictures. Instead, it’s just only an hour and half from the Orlando airport or an hour from Tampa. (I mean really, have you ever seen THIS in Florida?!)
Streamsong Resort Golf
Well-known in the golfing community as an elite golfing resort, the two on-site course are incredible. (With a third course set to open in 2017.) And if you golf, it really is a must-visit course. But my husband and I don’t golf, we were there for a little relaxation. A vacation from our family vacation, actually. And although we aren’t golfers, it was a perfect little get away just for the two of us.
I cannot overemphasize the beauty of Streamsong. There is another breath-taking view around every corner, and the unique architecture was clearly designed to take full advantage of those views. Floor to ceiling windows in rooms and common areas allow guests to enjoy their choice of a sunrise or sunset view of the surrounding 16,000 acres.
Streamsong Resort Phosphate Mines
Beyond the beauty I was fascinated with development of the property. This is no ordinary resort. Owned by Mosaic, the world’s largest phosphate supplier, Streamsong was built on former phosphate mines. After stripping the earth for the material needed to help crops grow, Mosaic turned around and reclaimed the land by turning it into the incredible resort and golf courses.
It is the ultimate story of renewing our land resources, and the history behind the land is celebrated in a display that chronicles Central Florida’s mining community all the way back to prehistoric days. A giant Megelodon jaw welcomes guests to learn about phosphate mining in what is referred to a Bone Valley. Long ago the prehistoric creatures that walked the land and swam in the seas in this part of Florida laid the foundation for phosphate. In the late 1800s mining began, and in 2013 Streamsong emerged from the once barren mines.
The result of building on an old phosphate mine are the rolling hills and deep lakes that make the landscape so completely unique and exquisite. How amazing is that?
Streamsong Resort Accommodations
I could not get over the attention to detail in the rooms. From the floor to ceiling windows with rotating panels to the double-sided TV, the room was functional and fantastic.
An extra detail I’ve never seen before was the personal library in every room filled with classics for guests to enjoy. Check out the cutouts in the bookshelf to make the books fit just right. So neat, and what a selection of books the choose!
Streamsong Resort Dining
Streamsong offers guests dining options at five restaurants on property. Everything we ate during our stay was delicious, but my absolute favorite treat were the truffle tots I enjoyed at P2O5 for lunch. They were amazing!
- P205 – A café-style restaurant featuring the best of Floridian cuisine – including Apalachicola oysters, conch chowder and key lime pie – offers guests all day dining options.
- Fragmentary Blue – Guests enjoy sweeping views of the resort at this contemporary roof-top bar and lounge, which offers indoor and outdoor dining featuring small plates showcasing American pub cuisine.
- Restaurant Fifty-Nine – Located in the property’s Clubhouse, this elegant steak and seafood-theme restaurant offers all day dining with striking sight lines of the resort’s award-winning golf courses.
- Sotto Terra – At this full-service, fining dining restaurant, guests savor fresh, contemporary Italian cuisine from a five-course prix fixe menu.
- Hemy’s – Relax at the lakeside pool and enjoy a full-service bar and poolside menu.
