Chocolate Christmas Popcorn Mix

All I want for Christmas is a quiet day at home, watching movies all day with my family. We are creatures of habit, and we enjoy regular movie nights. But between Christmas concerts, mommy traveling and everything else going on this month we are totally off schedule. I can’t remember the last movie we watched. It’s time to get back to family movie night.

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of DeMet’s FLIPZ.

This past weekend we had a break in the action, and we stole some family time (in between a concert and a birthday party) to watch Frosty the Snowman and Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. To celebrate some much-needed family time, I decided we should make an extra special snack – Chocolate Christmas Popcorn Mix.

Christmas Popcorn
With Frosty playing in the background I called my girls over to make their special snack. The best part was watching my girls faces as I laid out the ingredients. I don’t think either one had ever had chocolate covered popcorn, and they were so excited. And why shouldn’t the be? Chocolate, peppermint, popcorn = yum!

I giggled and snapped a few photos as my girls mixed in their choice of ingredients.

Ingredients

  • Plain popcorn
  • FLIPZ® Chocolate Mint (see coupon below!)
  • FLIPZ® Peppermint
  • Red and green chocolate candies
  • White candy melts
  • Red and green sprinkles

Flipz Snack Mix
Directions

Melt candy melts in microwave according to package directions. (I used about half a bag.) Spoon melted chocolate over popcorn and stir. Add toppings and continue to stir until everything is well coated adding more melted candy as needed.

Store in an airtight container (if there are any leftovers).

When the snack making was complete, it was time to return to the couch to settle in for the movie and try the special snacks. Everyone agreed that the snacks were a tasty addition to our movie afternoon. When the movie and snacks were over, the girls wanted to know when we could do it again.

Chocolate Popcorn Mix
FLIPZ® chocolate covered pretzels are the perfect salty-sweet complement to the Christmas popcorn mix.

FLIPZ® come in a variety of flavors. My favorite is the chocolate mint – my weakness. For the holidays, keep your eyes out for Limited Edition Milk Chocolate Snowflakes and Limited Edition Candy Cane Snowflakes.
