Before kids, I had this idea that date night would continue to be a regular thing. Not every week, but perhaps every other. And certainly once a month wouldn’t be too much to ask for. Fast forward two kids, and I am pretty sure it has been more than six months since our last date night! Between kid activities, family activities, work and just being tired — it’s hard to make time. Not to mention, that with a sitter date night is expensive!
So this Thanksgiving my husband and I did something completely unheard of — we had two date days. Two! While the kids were still in school Monday and Tuesday of Thanksgiving week, my husband took the whole week off. So we took advantage of “free babysitting” aka school, and had two day dates. It was wonderful.
So what did we do on our dates? We binge watched TV and ate a nice lunch together sans kids.
Don’t set the table, set the mood. Don’t just make dinner, make memories. Don’t just eat. Mangia.
Thanks to Bertolli Meal for 2 we didn’t have to spend a lot of time cooking a meal. But we were able to enjoy a hot meal perfectly proportioned for two from the freezer with no prep work.
Those two mornings flew by as my husband and I chatted about everything and enjoyed our time together. When it was it was time to get the kids, we were both ready to spend the rest of our staycation with them. But oh what a treat those day dates were.
I think I might have to convince my husband to take off another day from work in the future — just for us.
