Creating Memories With A Gift From Groupon

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Groupon Gift Shop. All opinions are 100% mine.

I count myself lucky to have good friends. But I admit that I often allow myself to get too busy to take the time to just hang out with them. (Why is it so hard to take time to be with friends? After all, it is a lot more fun than getting caught up with work!) This year, while beginning my search for holiday gifts, I decided to give my friend the gift of a fun activity — just for the two of us.

Looking for a little inspiration to get us out of the house, I searched for local activities on Groupon. While a spa date sounded wonderful, I really wanted to do something together so we could catch up and talk. My search proved successful when I discovered a Groupon for Coffee and Canvas.

A few months ago, a group of us did a painting class (which was a lot of fun). This Groupon offered something different, and perhaps even cooler, a sculpting class! I’ve always wanted to sculpt something out of clay (perhaps a Ghost influence), but even my Play-doh skills are lacking. A class sounded like a fun challenge, and I knew my friend would agree.

Like most people, I give a lot of gift cards during the holiday season. To make gift cards feel a little more special, I like to add a little flair to the presentation. In keeping with the art theme, a plain canvas apron and a couple of paint brushes finish off the perfect gift.

Groupon Gift Idea
Amazingly, my busy friend and I were able to find a night that we could both get away for a few hours for our art night.

Coffee and Canvas

We arrived Coffee and Canvas to discover that no one else was able to get away right before Thanksgiving, so our group class turned into a private lesson with the owner. Since we had the run of the place, we were allowed to make anything we wanted. There were so many cute ideas to choose from. Ultimately, we couldn’t resist making a turkey bowl.

Thanksgiving Turkey
For the next two hours we sculpted and molded globs of clay into turkeys. Even though I started with zero confidence, the easy step-by-step instructions made creation easy. What I thought would ultimately look like a hot mess, turned into a cute turkey bowl that I am down right proud of.

Coffee Canvas Orlando Clay Sculpting
I really like that at Coffee and Canvas not only do you get to sculpt clay, but you also get to paint your creation — the same night. Of course, it does have to be fired in a Kiln, so I have to wait to see the final product. (I can’t wait.)

The best part is that while we molded we talked, and talked, and talked. Because it was just the three of us, we also chatted with the owner Laura and learn more about Coffee and Canvas. Open for just a year, Laura is a former art teacher who opened her shop to teach kids and adults how to sculpt paint and more. Laura really has a passion for teaching people art, and we had a lovely night creating with her.

Groupon Art Class
In addition to offering adult classes, Coffee and Canvas offers classes for kids. She even offer birthday parties.

We had such a great time at our sculpting class, my friend and I are already making plans to go back. Maybe next time we will even take the kids.

Thanks to Groupon I was able to give my friend a gift that we could both enjoy, and we discovered a new place that we can’t wait to visit again.
