I learn the most amazing things at dinnertime.
I learn about what happened in K’s class and on the playground, who she sat with a lunch and what went on during the bus ride (always interesting). I also learn about my husband’s day and his co-workers. And most of all, I learn about my girls – their habits, what makes them laugh and who they are as little people.
Most of all, we laugh.
Dinnertime is a special time in our house – as it is in many homes. While there are many not-so-perfect meals – trying to get our slow eater to finish her dinner – many wonderful memories are made during this family time. Dinner is special.
While it is easy to insist that we all eat together with small children, I know it will be harder when they get older, but I plan to keep it a priority in our house. Just like it was in my house growing up.
Of course there is always the never-ending challenge of, “What’s for dinner?”
Luckily, we have some go-to meals that are sure to please everyone in the family — every time. But mom and dad like to change it up a bit too. But even when we mix it up, we like to stick with safe meals fit for a pair of picky eaters. One of our safe areas for food is Italian, so we are always looking for new ways to bring Italian inspiration to the table.
The Ragú Facebook page is an excellent source of easy-to-prepare family meals like no boiling lasagna and skillet pasta and beef dinner. The secret to any good Italian meal is a good sauce to serve as the base. With 11 tomatoes in every jar, Ragú® Old World Style® Traditional Sauce is Ragú’s richest, thickest recipe ever.
