Did you know there are approximately 30 million people in the U.S. who suffer from eczema? Three of those people live in my house. I always have itchy skin. Always. That’s life with eczema — itchies. I’ve learned to live with it, but seeing my babies itch — that breaks my heart.
Having had years and years of experience, I have learned that the best way to treat my itchies is by keeping them hydrated with soothing lotions and using gentle body washes that don’t strip my skin. And my favorite lotion is Aveeno.
I have used Aveeno lotions and bath soaks since I was a girl. Mom always told me that the oatmeal in Aveeno was good and soothing for my skin, so that’s what I have always used. In fact, you will find Aveeno face wash and lotions on my counter in addition to my stash of Aveeno Eczema Therapy.
Although I can’t cure my eczema since the underlying condition is that I am allergic to everything. (Ok, not really everything, but grasses, trees, pollens, dust, cats, dogs, etc., etc. — it certainly seems like everything.) What I can do is treat the itchy patches when the pop up, and in between flair ups I baby my skin.
Here is the thing about eczema — it itches, like crazy. Man does it itch. My husband is constantly telling me to stop scratching, but even as a grown woman who knows better, I can’t. That’s why my patches go from a minor irritation to a full-blown open sore quickly. So I sympathize with my daughters when they do the same thing.
My favorite thing about Aveeno moisturizing cream is that even when our skin is raw, it doesn’t sting. I have used other eczema products over the years, but so many of them sting. It doesn’t sting for me, and it doesn’t sting for my girls, which means no more tears, just soothing relief.
Just like my mom did for me when I was a little girl, when my baby girl first presented with eczema patches around 18 months old, I went straight to the store to stock up on Aveeno Bath Treatment. After daily soaks and lots of lotions her flare up subsided.
We will always have eczema, but we will also always have Aveeno.
If you or a loved one are also one of the 30 million eczema suffers, try Aveeno (or Aveeno Baby for the tiniest sufferers). It works for my family, and it will work for yours too.

I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for AVEENO. I received product samples to facilitate my review and promotional item as a thank you for participating.

My skin has been really itchy lately – between swimming all summer in the pool and at the beach, our hard water, my naturally dry skin, and pregnancy – so I definitely need to give this a try for some relief!
I would love to try this on my skin and see how it works
I am very interested in trying this. I am getting older and my skin is drying out. I am used to generics…
My oldest son has eczema and I hate when it flares up!
I love Aveeno products especially the ones with oatmeal in them.
I have various skin problems and sensitivities related to Lupus. I have to be careful what I use
as almost everything aggravates my skin. These Aveeno products sound promising.
My husband has the worst eczema on his ankles. I should buy this for him. We have no idea why he has it or why it is localized there,
Aveeno sounds amazingly gentle and I liek that it has soothing oatmeal in it. I tend to have flare-ups during times of great stress and my skin is sensitive, Aveeno sounds like a product for me
Back when I was taking care of my mom, we found that Aveeno was about the only thing that soothed her itch. She didn’t suffer with eczema, but based on her experience, I can understand how important it is to find relief. Aveeno is a great product.
I had no idea they had a lotion for eczema. I should try some.
