Great Travel Destinations For You And The Kids

Guest Post

Family vacations are wonderful means of creating memories for everybody involved, but it can be difficult to find a destination that speaks to each member of the family. There are some great destinations, reachable by road trips or Delta flights, no matter which part of the United States the family is traveling from. The best vacations are those that include a variety of activities that everybody can enjoy.

Yellowstone is one of the most ideal vacation destinations for the family that cannot get enough of the outdoors. It is also easily accessible and arguably one of the most beautiful places in the United States. Here, travelers will enjoy activities like hiking and rafting. Old Faithful is one of the top must-see attractions, but it is also important not to forget the Mammoth Hot Springs and the many lakes to explore. Best of all, this is a great vacation spot year-round, as it also offers skiing and old-fashioned snowball fighting. With hundreds of miles in trail to explore, there will not be a dull moment in Yellowstone.

No list of family-friendly destinations would be complete without mention of Orlando, home to the most popular theme parks in the world. Walt Disney World is the main draw; however, there are other options. The new Wizarding World of Harry Potter section of Universal Studios Islands of Adventure is another huge draw. Visitors will also want to catch SeaWorld Adventure Park and Discovery Cove. The best time to visit Orlando is typically from January to April, as the weather is ideal and accommodations are affordable.

San Diego is another great choice for families who seek a beach vacation. San Diego’s beaches go on for miles, offering hot spots like Mission Beach along with lesser known attractions like Balboa Park. While vacationing in the golden state, do not forget to stop by the San Diego Zoo or SeaWorld, where visitors will come face to face with animals. Travelers may also enjoy the Museum of Contemporary Art in La Jolla. Visit the Gaslamp Quarter and stroll the 16 blocks of Victorian buildings, shops, restaurants and bars. Plus, this city is just a couple hours away from Los Angeles.

California is also home to another great travel spot for families. San Francisco hosts Fisherman’s Wharf, Alcatraz Island and Lombard Street, the most winding street you are likely to find. Of course most visitors to the city want to see the notorious Golden Gate Bridge. It is definitely a must for vacationers to walk across the bridge, but the views of the bridge from afar are spectacular. San Francisco is great for the family looking for edgy and artsy culture, great food and people watching. The best time to visit is in the fall, right before Thanksgiving.

A family vacation can strengthen relationships and create new bonds. No matter whether you are going on vacation to a theme park, an outdoor retreat or a big city that also features nightlife and entertainment for the adults, one of these locations will do the trick.
