SING and SING 2 are some of our favorite family’s movies, so I defiantly think we will go back to the theater to watch that one and sing along with our favorite characters. But really, its a great list of movies that would be fun to rewatch on the big screen. Which movie are you most excited about?

About The AMC Summer Movie Camp Movies

In case you aren’t familiar with all of the Illumination movies featured in the 2024 AMC Summer Movie Camp, here is a little description of each so you can decide which your family would most like to watch.

MINIONS: THE RISE OF GRU (PG) – June 24 & 26

Set years before the events of the DESPICABLE ME movies, MINIONS: THE RISE OF GRU sees Steve Carell’s beloved supervillain and his army of adorable and destructive minions set out to get revenge against the Vicious 6, a notorious band of no-gooders after they turn on their former leader and Gru’s idol, Wild Knuckles (Alan Arkin). Hilarious, heartfelt, and action-packed, this animated prequel has it all.

DR. SEUSS’ THE LORAX (PG) – July 1 & 3

From producer Chris Meledandri and Illumination Entertainment comes an animated adaptation of Dr. Seuss’ timeless 1971 fable, DR. SEUSS’ THE LORAX. This whimsical tale revolves around a forest creature, the Lorax, who stands as a symbol of environmental stewardship amidst the consequences of unchecked greed. Amidst the vibrant animation and catchy tunes, the film beautifully encapsulates the enduring power of hope and the importance of environmental conservation. And who could forget the unforgettable performance of Danny Devito as the voice of the Lorax, bringing a perfect blend of charm and conviction to the character. With its fun-filled adventure and poignant message, this film holds something special for children of all ages.

SING (PG) – July 8 & 10

Buster Moon (Matthew McConaughey) attempts to restore his once-popular music theater in Catatonia and prevent it from entering foreclosure by hosting a singing competition in SING. After going through countless auditions from all sorts of anthropomorphic animals, the struggling yet optimistic businessman finds a stellar group of singers from all walks of life. With the stressed pig mom Rosita (Reese Witherspoon), a punk rock porcupine named Ash (Scarlett Johansson), a teenage gorilla named Johnny (Taron Egerton), and multiple others, Buster thinks he’s found his saving grace.

SING 2 (PG) – July 15 & 17

Buster Moon (Matthew McConaughey) and his all-star team of singers set out to prove themselves once again in SING 2, only this time they’re trying to get their big break in Redshore City with Crystal Entertainment. After accidentally promising that a reclusive former rock star (voiced by U2’s Bono) will be part of his new big show, Buster and his crew have only days to write, choreograph, and produce a massive sci-fi epic and track down the singer.

SECRET LIFE OF PETS (PG) – July 22 & 24

Just when Max (Louis C.K.) – a spoiled Jack Russell Terrier used to being the only dog living in his human’s luxury apartment – thinks life can’t get any worse, Duke (Eric Stonestreet), a massive Newfoundland mix arrives on the scene, and things take an even wilder turn when he’s taken to the pound. THE SECRET LIFE OF PETS follows the new adoptive brothers as they get wrapped up in a gang of strays set on revenge.

MIGRATION (PG) – July 29 & 31

In MIGRATION, a family of New England ducks decides to give adventure a try for once and plan a trip down south to Jamaica. But this long-overdue vacation isn’t without its ups, downs, and misadventures, as the flock soon finds themselves lost in New York. Trying to make the most of the situation, and prevent it from going from bad to worse, the family of mallards find themselves learning more about themselves and one another than they would have ever guessed.

DESPICABLE ME 2 (PG) – August 5 & 7

Retired from being the world’s premier supervillain, Gru (Steve Carell) is approached by Lucy Wilde (Kristen Wiig) of the Anti-Villain League to track down El Macho (Benjamin Bratt), a criminal mastermind who they believe has a dangerous biological weapon. That’s not the only thing that’s going on in DESPICABLE ME 2, as the new adopted father of three daughters also struggles with the concept of family, something he’s never truly experienced before. Is the greatest villain-turned-father-turned-hero up to the challenge of saving the world instead of destroying it?

DESPICABLE ME 3 (PG) – August 12 & 14

After Gru (Steve Carell) and Lucy Wilde (Kristen Wiig) are dismissed from the Anti-Villain League after a failed mission to capture former child star and supervillain Balthazar Bratt (Trey Parker), the former criminal mastermind teams up with his long-lost twin brother, Dru Gru (Carell) to finish the job once and for all. Forced to get over their past and fractured relationship, the Gru brothers find themselves on one epic journey in DESPICABLE ME 3.
