In just a couple of weeks the world will be introduced to the Boxtrolls, the peculiar and zany creatures who live just beneath the city who turn ordinary objects into something extraordinary. To celebrate the movie release Boxtrolls has paired up with Imagination Foundation for a contest and touring events aimed at encouraging kids creativity, and you are invited to take part.

Boxtrolls Cardboard Challenge
The mission of the Imagination Foundation is to find, foster and fund creativity and entrepreneurship in children around the world. So building on the creative theme of the Boxtrolls kids are encouraged to make their own Boxtroll and share it on Twitter or Instagram for a chance to win an “Imagination Box” for creative play that includes an Apple iMac, an iPad Air, Microsoft Office, The Print Shop and Kid Pix softwares, a $500 DiscoveryStore.com gift card, and a $1000 Michael’s Arts & Crafts gift card. (A $4,000 prize pack.)

WOW – what a prize pack! (I want to win!)

To enter, create your very own Boxtroll and then submit a photo of your creation on Twitter or Instagram using the hashtag #TheBoxtrollsCC. Entries must be received by September 28.

I haven’t made a Boxtroll (yet), but I found some very creative bloggers who have. To help get those creative juices flowing, here are some Boxtroll ideas.

Inspired by a love for American Girl, This Mama Loves‘ daughters turned their dolls into Boxtrolls.

About Boxtrolls

A family event movie from the creators of “Coraline” and “ParaNorman” that introduces audiences to a new breed of family – The Boxtrolls, a community of quirky, mischievous creatures who have lovingly raised an orphaned human boy named Eggs (voiced by Isaac Hempstead-Wright) in the amazing cavernous home they’ve built beneath the streets of Cheesebridge. When the town’s villain, Archibald Snatcher (Academy Award winner Ben Kingsley), comes up with a plot to get rid of the Boxtrolls, Eggs decides to venture above ground, “into the light,” where he meets and teams up with fabulously feisty Winnifred (Elle Fanning). Together, they devise a daring plan to save Eggs’ family.

See Boxtrolls in theaters September 26, 2014.
